The so called skate park will be another great way to throw away tax dollars in these economic times! Why don't the politicians look at ways to save tax money and cut budgets rather than look for more ways to WASTE tax dollars!!!!!!!!

I don't think of it as a waste of money. The money that they will pay to do this will create jobs that will put money in the moerket that needs to be there. Plus it will give kids a place to go that is not out in the middle of the streets. I almost ran a kid over on a skateboard just this morning.

State parks do not make any jobs! matter of fact if you let kids ride there skate boards on the roads there the game wardens will come out and give them a hard time, I saw that this past summer at Laura S Walker State Park. Some State parks are nice but not all, each one needs to looked at and some need to be trimed out of the system..

I'm not talking about a state park, i'm talking about a skate park. A park specifically designed for skaters. They are talking of turning an old city pool into one. It would create jobs-people would get jobs to do the work that it would take to construct this thing. Besides that, I know that you can't ride skate boards at Laura Walker. I used to work there for 3 years.

Oh, and Laura S. Walker has been one of the parks with the highest revenues in the state for the past ten years. It also has been one of the most visited. They do keep count of how many people visit the park every year.

I am sorry your right..Skate park..But still our state park dose not make any jobs..Only a few govement employes that could used somewhere else..The only reason it is used so much is because of the lake and people ski there and use there boats which they would do if it was a state park or not..

Who will pay to build this park? The Taxpayers
Who will have to staff this park? The Taxpayers
Who will have to maintain this park? The Taxpayers
Who will have to pay for utilities? The Taxpayers

Who does not want to pay more taxes? The Taxpayers

When I first moved to Waycross in 2006, I was a skater. Now that I moved here, I can no longer do the hobby that I enjoyed. I was skating down the street by my house and I was harassed by a police officer. He gave me a ticket and threatened to take me to jail for skating. It was really dumb. I too pay taxes and I think it is a great idea to build the park. It keeps kids out of trouble and off the streets. There is almost absolutely nothing to do in Waycross. It would only take a few employees to run the park. After paying bills to run the park and after paying the employees to run the park, the rest of the money could be used for the schools. If you have attended Ware county schools you would know that they really suck, and they could use a lot of improvements. I think it is a really great idea and it should be done.

I skateboard myself.. I would really enjoy to have a place to skate, and all others who enjoy this sport. Skateboarding is the second largest sport in the world in 2009, statistics show. I would volunteer to keep kids off of the street and safely supervised at a skatepark. We have a baseball, and football park. They are basically the same thing. Some people enjoy those sports, and some people enjoy skateboarding. So, if they have a place they can go and enjoy themselves, why shouldnt we? We skate on the sidewalk and get horrassed by the police officers. I use my skateboard for transportationg to travel places near my home. It saves gas, and its a great way to get exercise. I believe we should have a place to enjoy skateboarding, like the people who enjoy baseball, basketball, footbal, etc. I know if a park were built, many people would start to see just how many people enjoy to skate here in this small town of Waycross. So if you agree with kids being able to go somewhere publicly and play ball, then i think you should seriously think about why we skate in town. That is the closest place we have to enjoy what we love to do, skateboard. Thank you for reading what I think should be done.

This is exactly what I was trying to say before I was so RUDELY attacked. It's a good idea and there are a lot of skaters that have no place to skate.

If there are so many skaters in this town why don't ya'll get together and build your own skate park??? I don't want my tax money going for one and I know a lot of other people who don't either.
Do it on your own dime!!!! NOT the taxpayers!!!!!

yeah well we would but where are we supposed to build it?!? give us some of your land mister "ice man".. stop complaining about your tax money. if someone could give us a spot, then we can build the park. it does not have to be big, we just want somewhere we can go to have fun and socialize. until we get somewhere to skate we are going to be skateboarding in town. i know people do not like us to skate there, but thats our only place to go. we are not just going to quit skateboarding just because SOME people disapprove. Others support the idea. all in opinion. If brunswick can get 3 skateparks, whick they are getting 2 more soon, then wayx can provide a small lot or space with a few ramps and rails for us to be creative with.. Please people get active about our skatepark. If you do not like us skating in town, then i think you should totally support this idea. It will be good in the long run, and it wont make many people angry from skaters. also, people think skaters vandalize public places.. that is not true. we respect your property. we do not graffiti, nor destroy anything!! we just have fun riding our skateboard, not being involved in vandalism and other illegal activities. thank you all for reading. please reply and give me your opinion.

Give these kids something to do! There is absolutely no outlet for youth here. I was very much a part of the skateboarding community where I was from... I just hope it goes over well here from what I see there are not too many skaters. Festivals would be nice live music and things of the like that could improve this town not drown it out.

but if you build the skatepark it will keep kids of the streets and they stop disturbing the peace in major citys and at local neighborhood bussiness

its waycross you guys got to understand, the big wiggs in this town don't want industries to come in an make jobs, much less something for the young people, then they wonder why crime is so high no jobs = more drug dealers = more people in jail for tax payers to take care of

If you build it, they will come. From other counties and towns to skate and hang out with other skaters. I raised a skateboarding kid and now have two skateboarding grandsons and I have taken them to Brunswick and Savannah and Douglas to skate and would love to see a park in Waycross. Since I paid for them to skate, it would mean money in someone's pocket in Waycross. It does keep the kids off of the streets and out of parking lots and keeps the cops and the business owners off the backs of the skaters. It is a wholesome sport and should be given the same respect that other sports get from the public. Skaters are not bad kids. Think about it, Waycross. When we bring out kids over to skate, we also eat in your restaurants, shop in your stores, etc. Everybody wins.

Waycross needs jobs...not skate parks....skate parks are nice....if we have industry and jobs.....all we have are flash foods, fast food, churches and wal-mart..........Waycross relies too strong on neighboring county residents to spend money in Ware County.

I left because there was nowhere to work.....hospital, school, flash foods......City and County Government needs to seek more industry......and higher paying jobs for the people of Ware and surrounding counties.
