I hope to never see one of these upscale citizens at any Wal-Mart in the future and I do hope their precious property doesn't go down the tubes. This is a loss to the area and the residents only see greed.

Mr. Merriott,
The fight wasn't about Walmart it was about the zoning for the land. The proposed site plan for Walmart barely fit on the property and did not conform to the Land Use Plan for Union County. Please understand the facts before you comment.

It's more about "NOT IN MY BACKYARD", I fully understand. It's you that can't see straight.

Oh really? Do you know anything about the Land Use Ordinance for Union County? Have you ever read it? Again, I would advise you to read the ordinance before commenting on it from an emotional perspective.

Jeff is right. It's all about arrogant yankees afraid of the scary NASCAR types that shop at Wal-mart. Not in my back yard precisely. I'm glad Wal-mart woke up and realized that those people are not worth the effort. Instead, they can have overpriced boutiques that barely survive by ripping off rich people that care more about being seen as an equal by their richer neighbors than actually having a quality life. The old cliche' about dressing up a pig comes to mind, that area is nothing but swampland. Wait until their homes start sinking...hahahaha

I would have liked to have had a walmart in the area. Would have kept me from having to travel outside our area. But hey we have plenty of Harris Teeters and CVS's to shop at. And a new Target coming in woohoo I quess I could get a second job to be able to afford to shop where I live!
