WAVERLY — A former high-ranking Pike County Sheriff’s Office official was indicted on several felonies including a child rape charge.

Clyde Franklin Sanders Jr., who was the chief deputy under former Sheriff Larry Travis, was arraigned Thursday on two counts of kidnapping, one count rape and one count gross sexual imposition, all first-degree felonies. He also has been charged with child endangering.

According to the indictment, the gross sexual imposition charge stems from an alleged October 2008 encounter with a child younger than 10. The rape charge stems from an alleged encounter with the same child in January 2009.

Pike County Prosecutor Rob Junk said he turned the investigation into Sanders over to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to review for possible charges due to having worked with Sanders when he was the chief deputy.

( This should be reported to Nancy Grace)

You people are pathetic believe what you want. If she is such a good mother than why would she accuse him of that then still be sleeping with him? Don't make sense to me. And tell me how he kidnapped the kid when he hasn't even seen the girl in over two years?

HMMM: For someone who claims to know so much, you know so very little. Is this Marla? Pam? Your name calling and language speaks volumes about your intelligence. First of all, Rob Junk IS the state. He is the Pike County Prosecutor who represents the STATE OF OHIO in all criminal matters arising in Pike County. He asked the AG’s office to step in because of an obvious conflict, being the subject of the investigation was the ex-chief deputy. Kidnapping is certainly an appropriate charge under the known facts of this case, and the fact that Frank has not seen this child in over 2 years (THANK GOD for that) has nothing to do with whether or not a kidnapping charge is appropriate. Listen, if you are going to speak about a topic in public, please at least speak with intelligence. Do a little research, dig your head out of Frank’s lying ass, and form an opinion on your own. Until then, please keep your uneducated, potty mouth quiet.

It's a good thing Rob Junk asked the AG's office to step in, he has messed up so many cases that needed to be prosecuted in the past, that maybe this one will be done correct. Pike County could sure use a new prosecuter.

Wow...I couldn't believe this when I heard about it...my heart goes out to this little girl and her family, I know how hard it is to deal with something so tramatic. I too was a victim of sexual abuse and my abuser was also a former sheriff deputy at pike county sheriff department. Frank Sanders is the deputy that handled my case...now I guess I understand why nothing was done...(protect your own... especially if your doing the same thing)...well I'm glad that he is in jail...he deserves to rot in there.

Well you know what...you'd be surprised by what children can remember..especially something so tramatic...my abuser started sexually abusing me at the age of three as well and I remember it plain as day.. I can even remember the clothes that I was wearing...and I'm almost 29 years old...so you may want to rethink what you are saying...this is an innocent child

No she did not...but still you know if this little girl is saying this is true...maybe it is true considering that he is in jail...they would not send him to jail if during their investigation they did not find enough evidence to arrest him and send him to jail and hold him on a 100,000 dollar bond. There has to be something that they have that will likely hold up in a jury trial. Otherwise they would have no case.

I'm not saying hes guilty or innocent, I just don't think they would put him in jail on just hear say. Let's wait and see if hes found quilty or not. My quess they will offer him a plea bargain, he will plead to a lesser charge and there will never be a court hearing on it. Sad Sad Sad. I'm thinking, just maybe KARMA is playing it's roll.

Is it true that he did what he has been accused of? That is for the courts to decide and nothing anyone says for or against him in this pathetic forum will effect the outcome of any trial that may or may not occur one way or another.

I'm wondering where they will get enough people out of pike county to listen to this case. There will be a plea bargain, it will never make it to trial.

Isnt this the same Kelly Pennington Cox Sanders that broke up not only her marriage to Bo Cox but Franks Sanders marriage also by having an affair and being caught together by Franks daughter by his wife at the time. As I understand it Frank had been taking care of the daughter since she was born almost due to an injury, and isnt Kelly now dating a younger deputy from the sheriffs department.

It is a shame for the daughter, Frank may be a cheater but I cant see him as a molester to his daughter, his first daughter had nothing but admiration for him and they get along very well.

This way she can get him out of her and her daughters life and not have to worry about letting him see the daughter or be involved. As i said it is sorry to have happened or not have happened, either way it will be hard on the little girl and I feel for her, but as far as the parents they need to remember the old saying, "what goes around comes around" your actions will catch up to you sooner or later, seems like yours is now. You should have thought before you both did what you did to others.

Yes and mine was one of them. I had worked as a special deputy under then Sheriff Travis. I was sexually violated by four of their male deputies and was made to appear as a liar in the public eye. NO need to call in the then AG office...one of her assistants was kind enough in private to inform me....BCI through AG office are protecting these male officers. They had me as a traumatized victim take a polygraph...knowing it would appear untruthful. I took one from another neutral source and PASSED it...was anything done to these men??? Hell no...the sheriffs office is known for its corruption throughout the county....I've heard money laundering etc and etc. A Columbus Police officer took me out for breakfast to investigate privately what happened to me only to tell me they had set up a hidden investigation on this sheriffs office and was "suddenly" shut down. By whom???? Good ole boys at BCI and the AG office I suspect.....
Someday we'll have some "real" investigation in that county....DUI payoffs are NOTHING compared to the local attorneys and judges who deal drugs and have since I was 15...no one is stopping it...someday.....
