How about our youth baseball kids playing through games in 90 degree heat this past weekend? Very poorly coordinated and teams from out of town saying they aren't coming to Waverly next year because of it. Athens was promised not to play before 9 am and their first game was 830 am - some woman passed out and had to go to hospital and younger kids played multiple games in a row - boy Perkins fixed them at Allstars when he said he didn't want to have Allstars, he meant it! I think Waverly better join Piketon's league next year - maybe they will play better without the drama.

If you don't like the heat maybe you shouldent play. That's baseball for ya, as for the woman who passed out she was playing softball then came to watch her child play..

First, congratulations to the Waverly All-Star teams for finishing in second place against tough competition.

It appears that the complaints above are from the coach pitch tournament. I don't understand why the tournament was set up that way with a double elimination bracket used to seed a single elimination bracket. I have never heard of that. This lead to the Waverly team playing 6 games on Saturday which is too much for 8 year olds. I don't know why they did not use pool play to seed a double elimination bracket like was done last year. As for Athens not wanting to play early games, that is just too bad. They should not have been promised anything and should accept whatever time is drawn.

As for the kid pitch tournament, it seemed like everything went just fine and I did not hear any complaints. All the coaches and several of the parents worked hard to get the fields ready to play after Friday's rain and also worked hard between games to keep the fields in good shape. It was much better than the Jeffersonville tournament.

Ok Tracy season is over you can shut up now. That is all you have done is complain all year long. It is all start tournaments. It is always hot and the coaches would complain if they didn't get to play a lot of games. Is is unfortunate that the kids had to play so many games but there wasn't much could be done about it when teams dropped out of the tournament last minute. I think you did a good job Perkins with the last minute changes. As for all you people that all you want to do is complain why don't you get off your lazy butts and do something about it.I am sure the help would be appreciated because some of the board members get sick of doing it ALL. Lets see your butt at the ball fields every day and giving up time with your family for others peoples kids.

I am a mom of a player from a local team, not Waverly. I know the 10U tourney was very orgainzed. Ray did a great job, he was there to answer any and all questions. I talked to the Athens 10U parents and they were upset about playing so early, but did they tell you they could not play on Friday. They did not want to play back to back and so on. I believe Ray bent over backwards to make all teams happy. While they were not happy they played early they were okay with it. My hubsand said Ray put alot of thought put into his schedule. He went to the coaches meeting and came home and told me. Ray was up front and honset about what teams could not play when and thier reasons. We have 12 teams and I know we have talked to most of them and they were happy and will be back.

Now the 8U, man all I can say is I am thankful my son was not down there. Last year Ray ran that tournament and it was great. I do not know who ran it, but know it was not him. I heard lots of people that were unhappy but I am not sure why.

Maybe because they are 8U they are new to this experience. Hopefully after a few more tournies they will see that this is baseball. I have never been to a tourny where everything is ran as you woul do it yourself. It happens. Sometimes teams play at times they dont like. It takes a diva of a team to cry about games played and times in any tournament. That is why they are there... To play ball. You cant please everyone. If athens doesnt come back so be it. We have a great facility and put on a good baseball expeience for all teams. These guys need to dry their eyes and see how silly they look taking 8 year old recreational baseball serious enough to ruin their day.

Anthony did a great job all year. He is the only one who worked on his field, the T-BALL field was never touched and the team for coach pitch was not Waverly's best. Sure there is alot of change needed for the Waverly baseball; however, instead of pointing the finger, why not help out and run a league, or rake a field. It's not like the Board gets paid. Although i agree that they need to clean house on that board, why not give them credit for doing it. Some may only be doing it because there is no one else. And yes some do it for power and need to go.

I beg to differ on Anthony being the only one who worked on the coach pitch field....there were multiple parents who worked on that field including myself so just for the record is wasn't all Anthony. If we are handing out pats on the back, parents deserve it as well. But that is what it takes are parents helping out when their kids play....just a part of being involved in a positive way.
