my brother in law went there for bad stomich pains like 3 times and three diff. Doctors told him it was gas....and he knew that it was not...so he went to adena in chilli and told him his appendix were about to burst....if he had listened to pike county he would have died....they never even ran tests on him at pike co...just felt his stomich....so this is my true story about the horrible doctors at pike co...adena saved his life.

That's good to know. Thanks so much for the info. The next time you get involved in a head on collision on Morgan's Fork Road, make sure you tell the paramedics to take you 85 miles to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Or perhaps when your dad collapses and isn't breathing, dump him in your truck and hurry down to King's Daughters. Both are very, very good hospitals. I have done clinicals (that is college experience while learning to get a degree) at Cabell, King's Daughters, Adena, and SOMC. I have also worked at Adena and PCH. So I can speak from experience instead of stupidity that PCH is a great hospital and I would't hesitate to go there if I were in need of immediate medical attention!!!!!

Yes, I agree with you 100% about Dr. Frazier. Our family found her to be a very good trauma doctor. She knew in a few seconds that a member of our family was going into congestive heart failure and knew what to do. I would go there any day.

If that's the case, then you'll never be fixed.

Don't worry, I will let them know to take me to either SOMC or Grant or somewhere else, but I appreciate your concern. I've had to sue PCH for misdiagnosis (that is diagnosing for something I didn't have) and for malpractice (treating me for something I didn't have from the misdiagnosis) that resulted in having to get a prosthetic limb. So I can speak from REAL experience where as you, it seems, only have text book experience.
You have your little opinion, I have mine.

yes, pike county hospital doesn't have the fancy equipment the other hospitals do but pch can get you stabilized so you can make it to one of the other hospitals. i agree with others pch can save your life, you may be in such bad shape from an accident , heart attack, stroke, fall, shooting, etc., you may not make it to a hospital out of the county. just be thankful we have a hospital in this county.

The problem is that this debate is pointless. Medicine is not black and white, cut and dry. Doctors are not superhuman. They do their best trying to help while being overworked. The problem today is that peoples expectations have risen faster than advancements in healthcare. Everyone thinks that doctors are perfect and have answers for everything. The funny thing is people actually really believe that just changing the name on a doctors shirt makes him/her a better doctor! Well that's crap, they all get their license the same way. It's pure preference for the patient and nothing else if your looking for general care.

Who thought doctors are superhuman, children watching cartoons on the weekend? Who thought they were perfect, children watching cartoons on the weekend? They have a license to practice on humans.

No I don't only have text book experience. I have worked in the healthcare profession for 25 years. And I'm sorry for your misdiagnosis and malpractice suit. Have you checked to see how may law suits Adena and all of those other places have had? PCH does the best they can do with what they have. I said I'd go there for "immediate medical attention". Of course I'd choose a much larger hospital for scheduled treatment. But PCH has saved many lives in their 50 or so years of being here. They do know how to provide first aid (stopping bleeding, resusciate heart attack victims etc. And thank God they are smart enough to know when to ship someone out that they don't have the adequate means to care for. Still just my opinion (BTW mine is no littler than yours)and I've heard horror stories about them and lots of other hospitals. Adena is now involved in a wrong site surgery law suit.
