why in the world does goodwill charge out the butt for there stuff. i thought they were for the poor people to help them out. i recently went in there and bought a coat wich had a price of 3 dollars iwas like cool took it to the counter they said oh ripped the price off of it and charged me double.they said it had been in a yard sale well dammit i should of gotten itfor that price.goodwill isn't interested in the poor.they r only interested in profit.i think this sucks.goodwill should be ashamed.they get stuff for free from people than turn around and sell it twice as much. thsat doesn't sound like theirdoing goodwill.

The people working there always seem very friendly to me...And I think they lock the dumpsters to keep people from dumping their own trash in there, not to keep their trash safe from theives...

If I'm not mistaken, they don't sell that to the poor, they sell that stuff and then help the less fortunate with the money they make from it.

WELL I HOPE UR CORRECT. I HOPE THEY SELL THE STUFF AND HELP PEOPLE WHO R LESS FORTUNATE.BUT EVERYTIME I'VE NEEDED THEIR HELP THEY WERE ALWAYS OUT OF FUNDS.I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD HELP UNLESS IT WOULD BENEFIT THEM OR THEIR STORE.THATS THE WAY PEOPLE R ALL OVER THE WORLD AND COMPANY'S JUST TRYIN TO MAKE A BUCK.I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM PUT THEIR MONEY MADE TO USE TO HELP THE POOR. THEY COULD AT LEAST GIVE THE STUFF TO THE LESS FORTUNATE.IF IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT MONEY.IF THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LESS FORTUNATE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE A PRICE TAG WITH IT.MONEY SHOULD BE OF NO CONCERN TO THEM.IT SHOULD JUST BE A GOODWILL CLOSET AND HELP PEOPLE FOR FREE INSTEAD OF CHARGING FOR THEIR STUFF THEY GOT FOR FREE!

Goodwill is actually a non-profit company, so all the proceeds from the store sales go to helping others, not to make the company rich.

The prices are the reason I stopped going to Goodwill.
Another thing that erks me is if they get a "name" brand article, they charge more for it. A shirt is a shirt, and they should all be the same price.

the workers there DO get first pick of what comes in...one of them in another county gave my cousin a ton of clothes out of there when she needed them for a job.
i don't think anyone in there is particularly friendly, so i go to the salvation army on western avenue on wednesdays..most stuff is half-price

yes they do shut and lock the dumpsters so nobody will get anyhting for free out of there.there is not a lock on it to keep people from putting there trash in there.they just wouldn't want anyone to get anything for free god forbid.they gotta make money on every item they sell and throw away the things they don't need. i'd let someone who comes along and needs that stuff go ahead and get it before they just trash it or the workers or the trash men get it.i'd like to see someone who's less fortunate get it for their family than just letting it rot because they lock the bin at night.thats just plain selfish and stinks that making a buck is more important than someone enjoying something they got out of bin.the saying another man's junk is someoneelse's treasure is so true.com e on and have a heart and let people pick out what they want or need frst before you trash it and nobody gets to have it.i'd feel ashamed on just throwing away your goodwill goods instead of giving it to the less fortunate.

Goodwill Helped Me

I've bought from Goodwill for over ten years. I have never seen them charge more for 'name-brand' items. In fact, I purchased a brand new 'London Fog' heavy wool overcoat a couple of years ago for only $5.00 - it still had the manufacturer's tags on it! They have payrolls to meet, utilities and rent to pay, as well as administrative overhead - how do they pay that if they give everything away? I've bought working electronics (printers, monitors, radios, etc.) for as little as 50 cents. The stuff they throw away is usually broken, too dirty to clean, or too worn and ragged to sell. The people working there are good people and have always been friendly when not having to deal with people complaining about the dumpster being locked. Get real!

I'm thankful I don't have a load of pent up anger at the goodwill because they won't let me rummage through their dumpsters at night stealing dirty old broken things. Also I'm thankful for lots of other things, but this one seems to fall in line with the thinking of this topic.

WELL IF U THINK ITS SUCH A TERRIBLE THING THAT THE LESS FORTUNATE RUMMAGE THRU THE DUMPSTERS TO FIND ACTUALLY GOOD ITEMS WHICH IN FACT I HAVE SOME STUFF UP FROM THERE DUMPSTERS THAT U'D NEVER KNOW CAME FROM GOODWILLS DUMPSTERS. LOL IF THEY CHHOSE TO FINS STUFF IN THERE THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO IT ALL.JUST BECAUSE UR STUCK UPANDE WON'T GO THRU A DUMPSTER TO FIND OLE GOODS DOESN'T MEAN OTHERS OUT THERE WOULDN'T BE HAPPY TO HAVE THESE THINGS.REMEMBER ONE MANS JUNK IS ANOTHER PERSONS TREASURE.EVEN IF YOUR TOO GOOD TO GO THRU DUMPSTERS AND FIND THINGS DOESN'T MEAN I'M ABOVE IT OR OTHERS ARE ABOVE IT EITHER.I'M SURE MANY IN THE BIBLE SEARCHED FOR LOST TREASURES ANYWHERE THEY COULD FIND THEM LEAVE THE DUMPSTERS ALONE AND UNLOCKED FOR THOSE IN NEED .....
