Letter: Town left to decay

If one would drive through the city of Quenemo, you would notice a lack of pride. via The Topeka Capital-Journal

Not all of us in Quenemo fit your description. My home is kept up, as is my yard. While most the town appears the way you described, there are some of here who care about our town and take pride in the appearance of our homes.

Stan you always were an ass. Its not all the people of quenemos fault. There are many people who keep there homes and yards very clean. If the city council would get off there lazy asses and make people clean up there yards like the moore's and actually take the time to clean up the neighborhood and fix the stuff that needs fixin then maybe quenemo wouldnt be so bad.

I was born in Quenemo, Kansas, Nov. 7, 1927, and lived 10 action-packed and exciting years there before moving to Lyndon and then Eskridge, Ks. I met another missionary here in Brazil (Gary Tomberlin) who also was born in Quenemo. Small world, and Quenemo to me was always my home town. I've been in Brazil for 52 years.

Scew the city council most rural kansas peaple are (live and let live). Its their home let them do what they want. Its the big city people that come to Kansas wanting big city rules that hurt small towns. (Kansas) taxes the hell out of us with higher taxes than our neighboring states. My brother in KC.KS. does all shopping in MO. because taxes are cheaper. Its the people that live to far from the state line that pay for every thing in Kansas.

I think the town needs help and alot of it.
Also you can not complain about the city council
if you dont vote or run to change it.
The resedents of the town need to quit bitching
and get off your butts and clean it up!!!

Its all ways easy to blame someone else. Yes, thre is a lot of cleaning that needs done. but. it has to be a cooperative event. In other words everyone (city concil and residents have to pull together to get it done. Not anyone person has the resorses to get all that is needed to get everything done. This is a very poor(economicle) communtiy. Most bearly eak out a living for day to day expenceses. But every one is always fast to blame the other person with out knowing the reason why.
