My husband recently started working at stennis space center. He commutes 1 1/2hrs to work each day (one way). We need to move closer and want to know what areas of picayune are good...are there good public schools? Open to other areas such as Carriere...just dont know anything about any of the towns near stennis. ANY info would be appreciated!

Diamondhead is a good and safe area, and maybe 25 minutes from stennis.

POA dues for this year will be $65 a month. Not many rentals here that i know of though. Mostly houses/condos for sale. Depending on what you are looking for, can get a nice house for $80,000 on up

Diamondhead to me is an out-of the way place..Nothing close to it..Hancock county has about the lowest taxes around but insurance will eat your lunch..I would go for something outside of city limits in Picayune. Make sure you are in PRC school system as Picayune Schools are on a downward spiral..My son just took a big promotion to go from Stennis to Huntsville..The houses are getting cheaper since they reappraised county..

Diamonhead is nice and quiet. It is north of the interstate, not in a flood zone, so insurance isn't any higher than the rest of the gulf coast. Flood insurance in Diamondhead only costs about $30 a month.

Flood insurance is dirt cheap anywhere. What does the windstorm and home owners run...I'm willing to bet 10 times as much as flood. This is a coast wide problem.

That depends on the value of your home.

And if you know anything about this area, then you would know that Flood Insurance alone is over $5,000 a year if you live South of I10

And you claim to live in Diamondhead, so you should know what insurance runs.

Wrong information about no flood zone north of the interstate in Diamondhead. Check with the building dept. in DH or a real estate agent and they will let you know what areas are in or not in a flood zone. Also, Bay St. Louis is a nice area to look at as well.

Well, a majority of Diamondhead is not in a flood zone.

Truth be known, I live in Waveland and not in a flood zone. The rumors or everything south of I10 being in a flood zone are simply a fallacy. You have to pay attention to where you are and look at the maps. My flood insurance runs me about 200 a year for 200k in coverage.

In a previous post also, Inlaw stated that he owns a home in Diamondhead. I think it was in the Waveland Police, thread. I am not stupid. Apparently, Inlaw is lyingl.

I invite you to prove where I said I live in Diamondhead. I have worked there, been through there, visited there, and a few other things there...but never lived there. Too many self-indulgent people with entitlement issues in one place for me. As for the insurance issues, I can assure you that the cost of flood insurance is about the same anywhere in this county you go. The cost of homeowners and windstorm and hail varies as you get south of the railroad tracks in the county, Waveland, and Bay St. Louis. I invite you to check the facts. Do some research and check the flood maps.

I did. And apparently, you had the post deleted. You were bashing Outlaw Biker in one post, and you stated that you owned a bigger, more expensive home than him. And I suggest you do the research. I did. Flood insurance south of I 10 will run you $5,000 a year or more.

Ok you're right. I must not believe my lying eyes when I write the check for $200 every year for my flood insurance in Waveland; well south if I10. I need to pay more attention to you than what actually happens.

so now you changed your name. You better check your policy. for $200 a year, I assure you, you don't have much coverage. I know for a fact you won't get a home owners policy with full coverage for less than $100 a month. How do I know this you might ask? Because I am an insurance agent. lol
