Libertyville cop was legally drunk

Full story: News-Sun

He was an excellent police officer who represented not only the (police department) but the entire community. We will miss him. An off-duty Libertyville officer killed in a motorcycle crash was legally drunk, investigators said Monday. via News-Sun

Cops are people just like the rest of us.
It's only big news to them, cause he was a cop.

He was off duty and got a bit carried away having a good time just like many of us have done.

Funny, how everytime a news employee does something wrong, it never makes the paper.

IM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS BUT LIKE I ALWAYS SAY WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND, I JUST WANDER HOW MANY DUI ARREST HE MADE IN THE PAST. I JUST DONT THINK ITS FAIR THAT WHEN THE POLICE ARREST ANY ONE ELSE THAT IS DRUNK WHILE DRIVING THEY WANT TO MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT AND ARREST THE PERSON AND THROW AWAY THE KEY OR THROW THEM UNDER THE JAIL, BUT WHEN ITS A COP OR SOMEONE ON THE FORCE IF THE LIVE ALL HTEY GET IS A SLAP ON THE HAND AND SAY BAD BOY OR GIRL. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HERD OF A COP DRINKING AND DRIVING AND DIED OR KILLED ANOTHER, THEY NEED TO PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE POLICE BUISNESS.

Wow CEE CEE, I guess you are a perfect person. You've never made a mistake in your life huh? Unfortunately, this mistake cost a man his life. Hope you never slip up and make a bad decision because someone might bash you on these forums. Nothing like criticizing the deceased. Maybe you should realize that police officers are human beings too. Have a nice day.

Law enforcement officers should be held to a higher standard. After all, most of the time they are above the law.

Of all people, they should know not to drink and drive. I guess this was "Instant Karma."

I met ken back in the early 90s when he was a DJ and Tammy was a waitress. They came a long way in their lives to become who they were before Ken passed away.

For anyone to pass judgement on any person is disgusting. You have never once met this man. You sicken me. To read the comment from the one to say what comes around goes around..your typing appears to be that of one that is drunk as you preach.

Your own words WILL bite you one day for spitting hateful things in public forums where innocent mourning children, victims themselves can be looking shreds of positive things to read about their father. This man LIVED for his family...and believe me, this ending was NoT what he would have wanted, nor would he have been proud of. Leave it alone if npthing else for his family...

Keep your filth to yourselves. For once in this God Forsaken place allow someone to mourn in peace and act like a supportive community. HELP Tammy with her boys to remember her husband and their Father as the good man he worked long and hard tobecome for them and to always live in their hearts. Quit trying to destroy everything he lived his ENTIRE adult life for. He is GONE..your words are not going to hurt or punish HIM...but only AGONIZE those that are still here and scar the little ones that dont forget.....may pull you over tomorrow. R.I.P. Kenny

It is clear he was well respected but would the praise have been so forthcoming if he had killed someone else for his "mistake"?

Excuse me, the guy was a cop and he was a drunk cop driving. And even though he was off duty, off duty cops can still use guns. He was a drunk cop. People make mistakes and he made his. But considering he was a cop, that was a big mistake. And to say "He was an excellent police officer who represented not only the (police department) but the entire community. We will miss him" is plain ridiculous.

yep.......sorry hes dead but libertyville cops or cops in general drive drunk all the time.

lets just say i know someone who hangs out with cops and have seen how alot of them show no respect for the law. for them the job is more about power due to there egos rather then helping people or protecting people.

i think this is the cop who crashed into the fence riding his bike.

You don't get it he is a Police Officer. He is being held to a higher standard then the rest of us. If anyone suppost to know not to drink and drive it should of been him. He is suppost to set an example for the rest of the community. For shame Mr. Officer For Shame.

For all of you who apparently find it necessary to pass judgement on someone you NEVER EVER MET or for that matter KNEW, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I never knew that there were so many perfect people who apparently live in Lake couny non the less, who have never made a mistake their entire lives. I give you much credit for those who have done NO WRONG. It amazes me that you can sit her and type away your opinions on someone who paid for his mistake, dearly. for those of you who write the "karma" and what goes around comes around crap" Did you know Ken personally? Did you talk to him? Did you see him on a daily basis , or did you work with him , or see the differences he made everyday for people? Or are you just pathetic and have nothing better to do with your day then voice your neative meaningless opinion about a person who you have never met and will never meet for that matter? And for the one who said he could have killed someone else?? Well,if you read the news articles correctly, he didn't. He died. Not someone else. So instead of hanging on the what if's lady you should really find something better to talk about.!!

Are you really that stupid? You don't get it, even if he was off duty, why was he drunk driving in the first place? There's no excuse, police officers are supposed to represent what the law is. Obviously he thought he was above the law. The officers who serve to protect the public are the true heroes! Not the ones who put them in harm's way!

I know enough cops both retired and active that openly drive drunk and/or open containers IN the car. I ask about that, they flash the badge and call it their get outta jail free card. I am a supporter of law enforcement, I beleive 90% of all cops are good people, and I know nothing about the quality of person Ken was and my heart goes out to his famliy, but cops do need to address this problem in their fraternity.

Daily Horoscope for November 28

Capricorn

The Moon completes her course through your fourth house of home and family, for better or for worse. Of course, your home is what you make it, and we often create a replica of our childhood experience. If you aren't happy with your living arrangements, you would do well to consider what influences from the past have led you to create something you are dissatisfied with.
