An Urbandale driver and his passenger remain hospitalized after a Saturday night crash in Des Moines, officials said.
According to Des Moines police, Leon Danny McNeal II, 41, was driving in the 5000 block of Grand Avenue much faster than the speed limit. McNeal reportedly lost control and began to fishtail.
He overcorrected and crossed the center line, crash reports show.
The vehicle spun sideways, left the roadway and flipped onto its top before colliding with a large tree.
McNeal and a passenger, Amy Elizabeth Winters, 39, Clive, were both pinned in the vehicle, though McNeal was partially ejected through the sunroof, police said.
McNeal was taken to a hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to serious condition. Winters sustained multiple broken bones and is in fair condition.
