I was recommended to try a cream called Appalachian Secrets. It is half the cost of zanfel and works faster. I think they are only located in the south.

for 50 years I've been having outbreaks about every few years and the best treatment so far is to get a cortizone shot followed by a 6 day prescription of Methylprednisolone. For the itch I also take maximum strength benadryl. I shy away from creams and ointments since they can spread the infection.Use Benadryl Spray Extra Strength It goes on cool and feels like a light coat of hairspray on you.It gives a barrier that keeps the poison from spreading.
If you follow these suggestions you will see the infection start to scab over in 3 days. Avoid hot water or hair dryers anything hot will open pores and cause the infections to seap.Wash all clothing and bedding daily.Take lukewarm to cool showers when needed.Avoid heat or sweating.
This is from 50 years of expierience with being extremely alergic to these plants and vines.

I have been using this product for a couple of years. It is wonderful! I'm super sensitive to all the nasty itchy plants to the point I barely go outside...however my pup brings in and shares all those oils with me.
Prior to tying Appalachian Secrets, I had done everything: buttermilk, oatmeal, Clorox, brake parts cleaner, Benadryl spray (which I am allergic to), Ivy Dry, vinegar, lemon juice...elk you get the picture...everything! Appalachian Secrets is the only thing I ever used, including medications & injections from my doctor, that really works.

Here's my problem...

, I am having a very hard time finding it this year, had it been discontinued? Holy hives, I hope not!

Please, someone let me know! Thanks ;-)

I get poison ivy bad usually when my throat starts to swell shut I react to the situation. My best remedy used was to tell my ex-wife now that her dog had asthma and to get a hand full of predisone pills from the vet, about $2.00. if I got prednisone thru the doctor it was about $30.00.
