Now that most of us have had the chance to shop there, I'm curious as to what everyone's opinions of the store is. Personally I like it. I like shopping for food and all my other things under one roof. And I really like the bakery.

I shopped in Watseka because of Berkots, also patronizing Subway and Walmart while there. Now that Berkots is gone, I am driving to Kankakee to Ultra. I shop at Kmart and Target as long as I am up there. It is a little longer of a drive; north instead of south, but the new Walmart just hasn't impressed me enough to shop there exclusively for groceries and other needs. However, a patron at the new Walmart who lives south of Watseka told me they love it and think it has gone over very well--a big success. I agree that it is a nice store with dedicated employees.

I wouldn't step foot there....too big, too disorganized (from what I have been told), and terrible management. Just NOT impressive. Let's get our hometown pride and stores back instead of the freakin' WalMart junk!

Like the bakery, too. It is bright and spacious. Not as overwhelming as the store in K3. Love the hours so I can shop before work. Glad Watseka got the new store.

It's not a great store to shop in. They stopped carrying alot of the products that I buy in order to have a badly stocked grocery side, there are constantly pallets on the floor, very few employees seem to be on duty at any given time and those that are working are more interested in talking with their friends (Aaron in the milk dept for example)than helping customers, and the lines at the front and in the pharmacy are longer then they were in the old store. It needs alot of improvement. Oh yes, and the store also leaks when it rains...already.

I agree. It is a rotten place! I don't shop there and encourage everyone else to shop elsewhere. Their prices have been jacked up as well. You can save a lot more money other places with better quality than this new ChinaMart. They have limited items, stale bakery items, moldy produce, and a dirty store with gabbing employees who stand around and talk on their cellphones. The management is not interested in helping people but in their "status." The store leaked before it ever opened. They need to just close this junk trap and let us get back to the Watseka business that was going great before they came here.

I love it. I buy everything I need there and don't have to make 10 stops or drive to scummy Kankakee to risk my life just to get my shopping done. Watseka Walmart is just fine and you guys just wanna bitch about everything. If Watseka's other businesses were so great, they wouldn't be closing.

They didn't seem to be griping (you can do the cursing) about "everything." Different people stated facts and observations they had about the store and employees. Watseka has over 100 businesses that are not closing, but some that did were put out by the disgusting dislikes of WM. Kankakee is not so scummy that you risk your life there. Get a life. If your favorite singer or speaker were there and you could attend for free, you would be there.

If you want to buy Chinese, go ahead and get cheap junk for high prices because that is all the WM is about and you're wasting your money. It is a choice.....a very bad one at that.

Walmart will never go away...I hope we get Menard's or Home Depot so People's and Kaper's go bye-bye.

Only a fool would say "never." WM WILL go away...and permanently someday. If you don't like the businesses here...MOVE AWAY.

We really don't want people here that aren't interested in making the town a better place to live and supporting local hometown businesses.

Truly, if you aren't happy with what Watseka offers, just leave. It would be better for everyone.

name one thing Watseka offers....floods? Ghettos? Scumbag drug dealer/bank robbers? Meth labs? Snobby southsiders who act like you don't exist solely by knowing your last name? Cops that are so lazy that they only investigate what their ex-wives are up to? Yeah...great town.

You only get from life what you put into it. Learn to mind your own business, volunteer at the hospitals, help a reading program at the schools, mow an elderly person's lawn, go to any of our 100 businesses that have been here for years, support your local community programs, be a positive influence to others, ignore the cops because most are bought off anyway, take a cake to someone who has not been nice to you, etc.

There is a lot to do in this town IF you want to be a part to help make it work. If you are not interested, move to a town that has the perfect people you think you are where you would be happy. But don't criticize our town....you are part of the problem.

Have a happpy day!

We seem to have wandered off topic here, just a bit. Back to the original topic, Wal-Mart should have remodeled the original store. We did not need a 24 hour superstore in Watseka.

Agreed we didn't need one. We didn't need any WalMart.

They should have just remodeled Kmart and not let them leave. Having Kmart around was just fine. WM has ruined the town and businesses, brought higher prices and out of town trash out to slander whoever won't kiss up to them.
