in scenerio number 1 A deputy got loaded with his canine buddy and just got a open container ticket.
In scenerio number 2. The WPD were looking for a park police officer and found him in order to investigate some mysterious incident. A few weeks later they decided to give dwai.
In the newest one "scenerio 3", an ADA from the Jefferson County's DA's office gets pulled over for reckless driving and blows a 0.32 an hour after the initial traffic stop. Interestingly, it was handled by the Jefferson County Sheriff's office. At least in this scenerio, someone decided to think and actually test for BAC unlike in the first scenero. It will be interesting on how the DA's office will handle this. The smart thing would be to recuse themselves from this case and let someone else prosecute.
It's sad to see this things happen in our county.
A) It causes the public to have 0 confidence in our local law enforcement. These are the officials that enforce these laws.
B) When they individuals are on leave pending investigation, there's less officer/ADA's which causes more serious issues to unresolved in the county.
Those in the law enforcement field up here need to start thinking. Why let alcohol destroy a good career? Everyone is human and makes mistakes but I think the issue here is that no one is actually learning from them. Perhaps give law enforcement additional training on how to avoid putting themselves in this situation. Although, it should be common sense to avoid pounding down red stag with Officer Fido in the back of the patrol car. Not sure what led to the park cop to put himself in that situation but I am sure it was something he could of avoided. The ADA doomed himself by even trying to drive with a BAC greater than 4 times the limit.
Let's see what everyone learns from this if anything. I am sure soon, there will be scenerio #4. We still got the WPD and NYSP that could still goof up.
