Waterloo PD needs to do something about the Heroin problem in Waterloo. I have lost a lot of my friends because they r on Heroin. The cops are so worried about stupid bullshit that they are totally looking over the biggest problem in this town.

yes, drugs are a problem in Waterloo and always have been. I understand since I grew up there and have lost many good friends as well. I moved away and do not contact my old friends any longer. The best thing to do is find new friends that value life rather than wasting it away on drugs. It's hard to let go but you will be glad to be away from the bad influence and sad scene of losers who thing they are so cool.

I have lost two friends to heroin and hillbilly heroin. Its funny as a kid some stick with pot and other go all the way with this. The problem Waterloo has like most is the addiction to prescribed med. Pain pills are the new heroin and it has messed so many people up that I love and have cared for. My advice to any one out there stick to over the counter for the pain and learn to talk to the pain with your mind.
You know My best friend died the first time he tried heroin and my heart still aches to this day he was only 21.

Lets not put all the blame on the Waterloo PD parents need to be parents and know what there kids are doing instead of thinking there kid is perfect and don't make mistakes. Parents are always so quick to blame someone else if there kids get in trouble. Or if they are doing bad in school it must be the teachers fault in there eyes.

I agree prescription pills are the problem!! They are the easiest drugs to get and many are sitting in the bathrooms of these teenagers. I hear all of the time about kids abusing pain pills, xanax, ritalin, oxycotin, etc. and when these drugs aren't around these kids turn to cocaine and heroin since many of these drugs are cheaper and have a better high. And not to mention many of these kids have no idea what they are doing and they begin to take lethal combinations of these drugs. Doctors now days will pretty much just hand out prescriptions for anything without even thinking twice (many of these being Waterloo doctors). These Doctors should be held accountable and parents should not be so naive and lock their medications up!!

i definately agree that there is a really bad heroin problem im waterloo especially. I lost a lot of friends because they got hooked on heroin. They become completely different people, and will do anything to get their high. They will even steal pain pills from their best friends mother. what a shame. something must be done.

I do agree that parents need to be more conscious of what their kids are doing, but in the same token. kids are going to do what they want to do no matter what anyone says about it. i remember being in high school and my parents telling me all kinds of things and i still did whatever i wanted i just hid it well. If law enforcement would step up to the bat and at least make an effort to make a couple arrests to let it be known that they aren't stupid maybe it would help. I don't know just a thought. Drugs are always going to be a problem no matter where you live. I just think that it is very sad. Not that i don't love my new friends but i do miss the old ones but i know that they will never be the same.

You are an idiot. By the time it is out someone is addicted, it is too late for a parent to do much. Get them help as much as possible. If the PD would keep it off the streets, it wouldn't be a problem. I support the PD, but your comment is just plain idiotic. As a teenager it is easy to fall with ONE wrong person. Not to mention go to the slummy bars, it is not a 16 year old addicted. It is a 25 year old ADULT.

I am pretty sure "wife" was addressing the under 18 crowd. The police can monitor the streets and get waterloo sparkling clean, then they will just go to another town and get what they need. If parents step up and be parents for the younger ones, it would be a blessing. If the older ones with a problem had friends or family to help them see what they are doing to themselves it would be an even bigger blessing.....as for the police, they need to try as hard as they possibly can to make their town the safest it can be.

Drugs and other types of morally deficient practices are everywhere and people make choices based on experience, upbringing and basic intelligence.

Sounds like a scumbag problem not a heroine problem.

I can't get my kids to listen to me, I think its the way it goes, I remember not listening to mine. So, who else can we get to help them... wHY NOT OFFER DRUG COUNSELING AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. Oh, they don't get paid enough or its not there responsibility or they're to busy kicking kids out on the streets with nothing or maybe they,re high too. The #1 export in afganistan is poppys I hate to think the rise in heroin is coming from our soldiers but maybe
