The place was always dirty. Remember when the AC broke? I'm surprised it stayed in business as long as it did.

After they remodeled it, the front looked nice (nicer than before, anyway), but when you got to the counter to order, you saw the same scary looking kitchen.

And it really don't! The place went down hill after the father owned it! It was just became a nasty place. To many years of neglect and not enough up keep done on the place. I wouldn't even want to tell people if I was associated with the place as gross as that place was.

Jay Flieg was the guy who bought it from the Bakers, he filed bankruptcy last friday. So that is that, it will never reopen as a Dairy Queen

I loved the Dairy Queen too, it was our life and this hurts us that it has gone down this way. I think it really showed that we cared about our business when we worked there because we didn't only work there, we lived there. I think we need to open it for a day and see what we could do, right Steve? LOL

I actually live near the DQ. When the Bakers had it, it was great. After they left, I have to agree it went way down hill. The staff was horrible, and it was very very dirty. You couldn't pay me enough to use their bathroom. Baker, it's sad to see that happen to a place you loved and lived in. It happened to a business my family owned for over 30 years, you hate to see something your heart belonged to go to hell like it did.

I had worked there for several years & saw changes. But none like the ones when the new owners took over. It was sad & disappointing to see it got in a different direction. Always remember for whar at was. The Baker families, both took real good care of it. Service, cleanliness & great food. I will always remember that. The service in Columbia is good & I recommend it if you like good ice cream & hot food.Waterloo, opened up 35 years ago this month. Don't forget who them!

The younger Baker's did a "ok" job but, they could have done a better job if the "fake blonde" don't know her name, would have spent more time on dq then her fake baking and paste for a make up! Geesh! You see that stuff
