Does anyone know of a good place for dance lessons in Waterloo (for a preschooler)? I am pretty sure I saw that Kofarago Dance Academy will be having classes at the Capitol Theater, but I don't know where I saw that and I cannot find any information about it. Thanks!

My 4 year old goes to Pirouettes Dance Academy in Waterloo. It is located south of waterloo at the corner of Kaskaskia Rd and rt. 3.
worldofdance.us. I think they start them out at 3, and they did a fabulous recital in june at the afton high school.

I would take them to Pirouettes in Columbia, more kids equals more fun.

I would recommed Kofarago Dance over Piourettes by far. my daughter has gone to both and the Karfarago acedmy is so much more personalized. They truely care about each and every child succeeding and also provide structure. Having grown up taking dance since the age of 3 myself I am a pretty good judge of a studio.

my little girl goes to pirouettes in columbia in the 3-4 year old group. She goes on thursday nights and there are only 4 other little girls. i think it's a great place, she has a blast there and i think the other little ones like it too. I will have to say that i've been there on the much busier wens. night class and it's packed! it does seem like she gets skipped over in the bigger class.

i wish i'd known there was another option for dance studios.. not sure how i feel about the instructor..

I'm a single mom and live in Staunton. I am meeting with Kofarago Aug 29th for registration. My daughter will dance and her brother gymnastics. What are your views and opinions? What should I be looking for?

I took dance classes at Kofarago for about 10 years, in both Waterloo and Cahokia. The instructors were excellent, really knew their stuff and took the classes very seriously. The way I remember it, they were strict about talking in class, showing up prepared, etc and like someone else said, everything was very structured. The teachers also took the time not get to know, not only each child, but also each parent personally. A few things that may turn you off: it may be different now, but when I was there the gymnastics classes were really just basic tumbling, with back handsprings or back aerials being the toughest challenge. Also it seems like the classes, shoes, leotards and especially recitals (every 4 or so years) were pretty expensive. On the whole though a really great place for your kids to learn dance and tumbling as well as respect, courtesy and punctuality. Good luck, I hope you find what you're looking for!!

It depends on what you want. Are you trying to put your kid in something for fun, which is fine, or for a strong dance future. Truly neither one is great, however, if you have to go to one or the other I would choose pirouettes. Bc pirouettes hires dancers from around the world. Kafargo is kafargo family and a few young others, the woman who owns and still teaches taught the owner of pirouettes and was ancient when she did that. Kafargo have been teaching the same for decades and bring in no new dance, which in order to keep up with dancers today you need that. However kafargo teachers are nice and fun. Therefore it all depends on what you want for your child. If possible, look for better places in St. Louis.
