I think Waterloo needs more police officers. With the crime rate in this town we need at least 10 more officers on the payroll. Just yesterday I witnessed a elderly couple going 53 in a 45 mph zone. They could have killed someone.

Nah, I'd say we're good. I see police cars everywhere around town when I'm driving.

James,James, James,

5 police cars in around Waterloo at any given minute are just not enough. We have people talking on cell phones 8 blocks from the school building. I bet there are at least 50 people driving around Waterloo right now who forgot to put their seatbelt on. I actually seen a car last night driving around with one tail light out!! With the Waterloo crime rate soaring we need at least 10 patrol cars on duty at a time.

I'll have to agree, I think we need more, one sitting next to every 25 mph zone sign in town, so probably 40 more. Will need a quota of around 20 tickets a day to support the payroll, but that shouldn't be a problem.
We must get these speedzones reduced to 15 mph, before someone gets hurt, especially in long roads that go through cornfields on their way to subdivisions. We won't need brakes any more, can just use feet like Fred Flinstone. Go 15 people !

I couldn't agree more. Maybe Waterloo could post a police car at every corner instead of every other like they do now. We could all start driving golf carts through town. Do you think 40 more would be enough?

We've been hearing for years that, crime is at its lowest in many decades — and that's true. So we should have less cops. Cops get $40 to 50 5$$ a hour Just as good private gaurds men can be tired at 10-12$$ a hour.

Why do we need more cops? Just more people to point fingers at for letting murders go and suck up more tax $$$$.
When they arrest a person with needles but they dont have any heroin, doesnt that sound odd? Everyone has needles but no one know where to get heroin?

You do know that a police officers LITERAL job is to report crimes after they happen, not to stop crime right? Thank you for being concerned for innocent lives, there are a shortage of people who do nowadays, but crime cannot be solved by a large police force but a combination of a highly trained small police force, good citizenship, and proper politics. Guns are banned in Mexico but now there's a x4 crime rate, everything has an equal and opposite reaction, which means if we signed on more officers we would actually get less effective and pay more taxes. We should be cleaning house on the dirty cops instead of hiring more.

For those of you out there that routinely drive through Waterloo. Pay attention to the amount of police cars you encounter. In the last 6 months of me paying attention and driving through town 2 to 3 times a day I bet I encounter at least 4 per trip on average. I guess this is a bad thing if you are a criminal but it gets to me. One day I am going to lose focus and be caught going 6 , 7, 8 miles over the speed limit on rt 3. It just seems that everywhere you turn in town there is a cop car. Are we living in a police state? Is crime that bad in Waterloo? It's like they are waiting on you to step out of line.

Just how do you know "exactly" how fast they were going. Were you driving along side them or trying to keep up with them to figure out how fast they were going?? Were they texting too??

WPD, you'd complain they weren't doing their job if you saw fewer. Can't please some people. Find a real cause.

Non of the above, they are just doing there job and being "seen" prevents crime and has people obeying traffic laws, and they wont pull you over for going a few mph over speedlimit, stop complaining.

Yes I think they were texting as well. They also stopped by hicks and purchased a bottle of wine which I am certain they drank on the way home. I wouldn't be surprised if Waterloo pd issued a warrant for there arrest.

No. Most of them are great guys and do a fine job. We all should be proud. The problem is we have too many for a town that has a lower crime rate than Mayberry. They are bored and with that comes decisions that are not prudent. Like pulling over a soccer mom in a hurry to get to a game or a father late for work in the morning. Or maybe a nurse on call trying to get to the hospital at 3 am.
