Jim Martin, congratulations on a well-written, thoughtful story. The nature of free market economics is price fluctuations. But the complicating factors today are those hedge fund people, who I believe have been playing some tricks in the market to support the kenyan candidate. I ordinarily eschew conspiracy theories, but George Soros was in the tank for the kenyan, and Soros had the assets to have an impact on the U.S. economy.

Not sure Jim Martin gives a rat's a** about your approval or your dim-witted and delusional take on his article.

Hedge funds? George Soros? The Kenyan? Wow!
Make your own entertainment I guess.

Really? You've been on the wrong side of every conspiracy theory posted on Topix this year. Better head to confession after that whopper.

In part by paying farmers not to grow crops.

Yes there are. Do some research. On top of that there are numerous mega-farms that receive subsidies as well.

Do some research?

I know that farmers get subsidies.

I'm just saying that the program that paid farmers to set land idle ended over ten years ago.

If this is true, rice farmers get over ten times the subsidy $s per acre more than corn and soybean farmers.

I can hardly believe it.

...but I stand by my statement, these people (according to their own statements) are not farmers.

There should be a law against it.

WaPo is pretty reliable. The farm subsidy program is a mess. Most of the subsidies go to those that don't need them, or in some cases don't even ask for them. It's a bad program in need of a serious overhaul.
