Legion, VFW courting younger veterans

Everybody at American Legion Post 11 knows Joe. That's the point of a Legion post. That's the point of a Legion post. Not the whole point, of course; for 90 years the Legion has supported wartime veterans, and Boy Scouts, and Special Olympians, and protection of the U.S. flag, the best symbol of the "one hundred percent Americanism" promised in the Legion's charter.

They would not even associate or recommend membership in their precious organization when we got back from S.E.A..

I've heard that from a lot of Vietnam guys. We got a huge speech when we got back talking about how the VFW needs us, although I joined because the VFW post was less than a mile from my apartment off post and the drinks were cheap. Five years later I am at a post in a dry county and I feel like I am an outsider.

The VFW has changed due to the demographic shift of age. I broke down and joined our local VFW since my neighbor started a new chapter, 6024. He was a Mud Marine in his day.
There are lots of different orgs. to join. The best thing is no matter which one (or 3-4) you join they offer a unique feature. Networking.
Yeah dry places are a drag. The posts & orgs offer a cold brew. That's a good thing.
As you probably know each conflict produces their own cliques and chapters. The VVA charter has as its pledge "Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another."
Welcome home fellow vet!
Join and enjoy. We are an exclusive "club" we combat vets. We all are brothers no matter the war.

oh... The American Legion is great in helping with VA claims.

Actually Bush had declared Afghanistan Taliban free.. Mao-bamma found them again, committed an additional number of troops to "finish " the war.
Its his fiasco and he is screwing it up big-time.
As I stated before the VFW is an exclusive club of warriors. Even if you untucked your tail you would never make it through the door.
Unlike you if our country called we would serve again in any needed discipline.
Heros, no. Just regular folks doing whats correct for their country. Ones that can look in a mirror without being ashamed of what they see, unlike you.

The enemy soldiers do not get VACATIONS home from the war, parades or medals. No mental health counciling for them or VA benefits.

They will WIN...we will not.....because it is their country not OURS.

The USA is a sick medelsome nation boiling in its own stupidity.

You should rename the VFW.....to the VFM...Veterans of Foriegn MISTAKES.

I am a veteran...and would never step foot in your crappy clubhouse.

Get something thru your THICK SKULL...the USA is broke and on the edge of chaos. Our prisons are full and the LAST thing we need is this ridiculous war.

War is a business in the USA

Thousands of DOD contractors are making hundreds of billions on these wars....with their political power they will keep this country at war FOREVER.

The US government is totally corrupt and dominated by those that are helping destroy it in the name of National Security and Defense.

$7 billion dollar aircraft carriers,$2 billion dollar B2 bombers, one million dollar troop carriers ......all that crap and more....the enemy is not impressed.

We have no chance of victory and deserve the defeat we will get.

The weight and expense of our efforts doom us to defeat,

Our forces are worthless in this type war.

But...we are ready for WW2

Gen Giap of the North Vietnamese Army said it best " we shall watch and wait as the americans defeat themselves".

War is the way of the world. It will never change. This radical muslems, christian thing has been going on for thousands of years.
Millions have died so far. Millions will die in the future.

Can you imagine how GREAT this country would have been if it were not for its constant meddling in every other nations affairs?

No Korean WAR.....we would not be driving Hyundias and Kias and ships built by South Korea

No Vietnam War....58 american soldiers bet their life on a loser as war contractors made billions in the USA

No 9/11/01...that event was an unintended consequence of US meddling and in the war between Israel and the Muslim world, we took sides we paid the price.

Now the Idiot US Governement is in a $40 million dollar a day disaster war that we have NO chance of winning as Isreal laughs.

The USA could have been healthy wealthy and wise....but we are sick, broke and at war.

Meanwhile the US DOD contractors are making hundreds of billions on a war that means NOTHING.
