Will someone please stick a fork in this issue the Community College is dead.

The times and the Chamber are pushing hard for it for some reason but no one else is. The Five other colleges in our community do not want it. The business community in Erie does not want to pay for it. I do not believe that as a collective voice the business community is in favor of this.

The Chamber and the Times are manipulating the "facts" from their "impartial consultants". Could the 4 existing universities please come together and fund a study to challenge the actual need this school will fulfill that allegedly isn't being currently served. I cannot believe that tax payers in Erie County and the State will tolerate paying for 2/3's of this school's budget.

This will be a duplication of education services provided.
If we would do anything, it's (Comm. College) support, possibly having gaming funds help pay for folks who can take advantage of our local colleges. Paying for the schooling will most always be the reason for a person not going further in their education / skill improvement.
Keep the politicians out of it, use current college(s) management systems in place, help students / adults with payment for books, class fees, etc. Let's (us taxpayers) not hire more overhead, add more / duplicate systems already currently in place.
Let's educate our folks, give them a hand up, not a hand out!!

Erie doesn't need a community college as much as NWPA as a region needs quality training opportunities below a bachelor's degree. Mercyhurst and Edinboro already have satellite centers in Fairview, Corry, Northeast, Millcreek, and Meadville. Maybe the two could ask the state or county for startup funds to expand their offerings at these locations to better serve the region in the same capacity of a community college.

A CC is exactly what you will get if Grossman has his way. He is a big supporter of it.

The Community College won't necessarily be a duplication of services. I'm not sure what they will offer but, I think it would be better and cheaper for many than going to any other colleges here.
For one, the others are more expensive. And require a student to take non related classes. I would still like to see what they have to offer first. But I am leaning toward having one.

You people miss the real reason for the community college. It will provide a good amount of
high-paying jobs that will be filled by political cronies and by those within the NETWORK in Erie.

See ya. Get out you talentless loser. The faster you deadbeats get out the better this community will be. Move to mexico where your lack of critical thinking skills will let you feel a little more comfortable among your intellectual peers.

Speaking of a lack of critical thinking skills, I've never read a post by you that used logic and facts to advance a point. Just name calling.
Why don't you join the adult world and engage in debate instead of throwing feces like a semi-trained monkey.
I guess you do the best you can with what you have.

Riiiggghhhttt, and Grossman is going to do this all by himself. County council makes the final decision.
And if you don't think they have already decided to raise taxes in general...you are in la la land.

Why should I have to pay for some high school drop out/flunk out to go to college and fail there too? Get a job. And access should have a time limit on it too. If you are legit and need it ok. if you "Can't find a job" you have not looked. I saw that country fair, sheetz, mcdonalds, and taco bell are hiring. loser

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Leo

Be choosy about who you spend time with today. If you're with someone who's habitually miserable or sorry for themselves, you'll soon be dragged down to their level and will struggle to recover again. However, you may feel such sympathy for their plight that you don't see you have any choice but to be with them. If so, do your best to remain positive.
