Cohoes Falls were in Mohican Territory

The Mohawks have no ancestrial home in Cohoes. The Mohawks were kept at bay to the West of the Schoarie Creek. Their nearest village was at the Mohawk Upper Castle at Canajoharie.

Cohoes was called Nachawinasick by the Mahicans and was deeded to Rensseaerwick November 22, 1670.
