What the heck is wrong with her!!!! There's people that can't even have kids, couldn't she adopt the child out?? or something!! How could she kill her own child?!?!

To be fair the cause of death hasn't been reported. The baby could have died from natural causes.

It does bother me. She could have taken the baby to a fire station and left it there, no questions asked.

There are a surprising amount of people who don't know about the Safe Haven Law. Also, not all fire and police stations are Safe Havens. The ones in Waterford, for example, may not be, because they aren't staffed 24/7.
It's really sad that we leave people in situations where they feel leaving their babies in bins is the best route. The mother (or parents, we don't know) must have been in such a terrible place.

Agreed. It is also a shame that there is still such a stigma attached to giving a baby up for adoption. On the other hand I suppose if she hid the pregnancy she wouldn't consider that as an option.

I was curious so I looked, it said it is a manned fire station. Station #34. The bait barn and fire station are a half mile apart.

I really think the solution is increased education and public awareness, not judgment and condemnation.
The person who left the infant may not have known about the law. Most sex ed doesn't cover where you can go for help after you get pregnant. In fact, most sex ed only covers abstinence and STDs. The person who left the baby was probably a scared teenager.

Scared or not, no excuse for murder. How heartless and selfish for her to just regard another human as garbge. She had no right to kill this child if it was born alive. Even if stillborn, this is horrible. No excuses and hope the same happen to her!
