A laugh & a joke. Douglas wanted to dump $40 million onto property taxes thereby raising taxes *for all*, esp hurting small business, working families w/children, middle class, working poor, recently unemployed & unemployed burdening the already overburdened & forcing small business to cut staff increasing unemployment.

Also wanted to end income sensitivity, further overburdening the overburdened including the aforementioned w/exception of those who do not qualify.

Renters would simply have this cost passed on & charged by landlords to make up the loss.

Also wanted to cut approx the same in necessary services to the most vulnerable which would include those employed to provide those services.

And, give a tax cut to *the* most wealthy taxpayers, those making $350.000.00/year or more.

Dubie would have done the same.

Do not kid yourselves, any other tax cuts would have been small in comparison to the windfall bestowed upon their wealthy friends.

Unless you are in the aforementioned group you would not be very happy about this.

If you are, who cares.

Hawkeye and I are making a final run thru the forums/posts gathering the last of the best examples of the mind set of Vermont. Yours being the cream of the crop. When I saw this post, I just could not resist asking you one last question. Now that your Schumlin (Mr.$10M in assets) is Governor and you have won ,how do you feel about his Janus act on Vermont Yankee?
Good bye, thanks for the great material, you will make S. Londonderry look really good and do her proud-job well done!
Thank you.
Who won? All VTers minus the 1400 wealthiest & they did not exactly 'lose'. If you are amongst them, not a priority as the rest of us would have taken a big hit to give you more money.

If you're not among th wealthiest in VT, you win too.

VY situation would not have changed no matter who is governor, though having a governor who wishes to close it on schedule is a plus.

Whow, so Howard syphons off money from the Highway Budget to fund his special projects which continue to now and Douglas wanted the Highway $$ to return to where they belong and fund the Howard's projects. So what's the mystery? Highway funds for repairing the highways and bridges as well as raising $$ to support those liberal projects which Shumlin will want more of?

Then I take this to mean our electric rates will not go up. Wait I just saw CVPS asked for a 8% rate increase. Tell me in two years what the rate will be in Two years and what the tax rate will be. As for the 1400 Wealthiest again let use wait and see. New York raised the taxes on the wealthiest and over 50% left the state including a one time candidate for governor. Those that can will they leave New Hampshire is close with lower taxes.

Last person leaving Vermont will not have to turn off the lights, they will be out and they will be leaving by candle or torch light. Next 2 years will be interesting.

Shumlin is a sandal wearing left wing nut job who thinks he can save the world right here in Vermont is going to suck Vermonters dry through even bigger taxes than we had before attempting to do it. Vermont LONG ago LOST its CHECKS & BALANCES SYSTEM. Keep keeping Vt nearly 100% one party &see where you wind up...BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!

I be guessing that ur fancy Collage of NYIT didunce haves
no poliotics of sience lerning or economix reedon books.....

Lets face the facts here Alice, you live in the fcking woods
of Vermont with cow path roads and zero rail freight and a
combination tire center, hair salon, coffee shop and International
Airport with hanger space for one jumbo jet and a hang glider....

It wouldn't matter if you had a house full of Republicans and
a trained monkey for a Governor, it's not gonna change a damn thing..... Until Vermont stops living in 1776 and stops allowing
these exiled tree huggers from suburbia across its borders, you're screwed..... The cost for goods and services will only escalate to the likes of Nome Alaska without improvements to its infrastructure, and that my little uneducated friend cost money..... Now, since this needed cash damn sure isn't coming from commerce or manufacturing, where do you propose that it come from, the tooth fairy?????

The state will not allow any new manufacturing which they deem "NOT GREEN" or gives off emissions comparable to that of a single lawn mower, NO rail service to supply or ship manufacturing goods, NO natural gas pipeline to support manufacturing and a zero qualified work force pretty much put the future of that state in the shitter....

You live in a "TREE" State, not a "PEOPLE" State... Might I suggest the "Burb's" to the south where you could plant yourself a few tree's and actually cut them down without congressional approval.....
