<quoted text>Black boy, you use the word 'black' in your screen name - so how can 'black' be offensive?

Negroes, is there ANY word that you folks don't find offensive? No wonder the rest of the world laughs at you...
A teacher calling a child "black boy" is just plain stupid. It should not have to be explained.

What was the kid doing out of his seat?

How can we judge it, if we don't know anything about the situation. They could have been playing team checkers black and red for all we know. This artical tells us nothing!!!!

How about right in 10th grade history class. I had the day before opened up a can on whoop arse on one...and the four in my history class are calling me out RIGHT IN CLASS as the teach acts oblivious.
So lunch comes...and one is behind me in line with our trays...when suddenly ( I have keen senses) he lunges at me with a fork.
I hold up my tray and 'BAM' his fork hits it not me.
Then my tray becomes a weapon...side slinging "BAM" on the side of his knee and "BLIP" upside his head.
Ask me why I finished High school in the Army.

right on rhino, there are some IDIOTS on these threads, probably a bunch of 10 year olds which is indicative of the level of stupidity that you see with some of these responses. so i wonder how many would agree it's not an issue if she had called another student:

white girl
fat boy
retarded girl
autistic boy
deformed girl

i guess the morons on this thread who are defending her would probably say that would be ok too, right? right.

I simply ask, of the white people posting on this thread, who of you as a child would have been offended if a teacher referred to you as white boy or white girl?
I was referred to as "white girl" in school but more by Hispanic students than by black kids, you know, chola types, welcome to LA, and yeah it sucked!!! I am not ashamed to be white, but being called that sucks and especially as a kid you start to feel somehow ashamed of looking as you do. Actually, I am 1/4 Turk but all they saw was the outward look

<quoted text>Liar.

Everyone that works for a living feels the affects of affirmative action. They go to college and get an education then find out they can't get the job they wanted because some dumbass that is unqualified is crying that he is being discriminated against. It not hate you dumbfck, it's common sense.
Yet many companies hire minorities cuz the know they can pay them less

<quoted text>You went through life without feeling the effects of affirmative action? That's great. It doesn't mean every white person had that same experience. If you took a college entrance exam, you were affected. When I applied to professional school, Affirmative Action set me back by a year before being accepted.
When a white person is better qualified but gets a"sorry, we have to take a minority" instead of the position, that's discrimination.
If everyone was evaluated for positions based on Merritt's, qualifications, and character rather than race or gender, racism and discrimination would disappear within two decades.
I think race and gender should be removed from exams, applications, and any evaluation on paper.
Agreed with that but now the give you the "Decline to state" option but the best is to stop asking

<quoted text>I did take an entrance exam. I don't see that it affected me in any negative way. I was accepted, got a degree and then another. I have never been passed over for promotion due to race. Your hypothesis that racism would quickly disappear is naive in the extreme, but I also agree that any reference to race, gender, age, sexual preference, etc. should be excluded from government funded applications.
Why only from government funded ones? It should be excluded from the private sector as well

<quoted text>If you took a college entrance exam, a black student that got the exact same questions right, and the exact same questions wrong as you did, got a higher score on that exam. Again, if it didn't affect you, great for you. But what about the bubble students? Did the white student prepare less in order to get that lower grade for missing the same questions? No.
You haven't been passed over for a promotion due to race. Again great for you. Does that mean it doesn't happen? No.
As for my naivety, let's say a medical school accepts 50 students per class. Due to Affirmative Action, of those 50 students, 4 Have to be black, regardless of grades, clubs, extra activities, or work experience in the medical field. Now it's obvious that this doesn't bother you or cross your mind in any way. But I'm inclined to believe others, like me, when going to their cardiologist which is black, have to wonder if he is there because of his Merritt or because of Affirmative Action.
If we eliminate Affirmative Action, and that black cardiologist walks into my exam room, I KNOW he's there because of his Merritt. Thus the road to ending racism/discrimination.
Great now you've given a hypochondriac like me yet another thing to worry about

<quoted text>That is non sequitur. Your contention is that a black man couldn't become a doctor without affirmative action. Thats nonsense.

He didn't say that and you know it. He simply said that due to Aff. Act. you can't be sure if the person got in based on merit or racial quotas.
