Our now mayor Jesse Moore has been our Mayor for the past 15 years and 75% of the people in our tiny town , when asked have NO idea who the mayor is....That speaks volumes all in itself....Very much time for a change...

What will David Young do for Waskom? What issues is he running on? How about revitalzing the downtown area? How about getting people to clean up their yards and making Waskom, TX more charming? How about making the area more desireable for businesses that would attract tourists like nice clean places to eat? Antique stores? Gift shops. Most of the places on the main drags are DUMPS! The restaurants are dirty and terrible looking on the outside. What has the present Mayor done for Waskom? From what I can see visually - NOTHING. Bikers and RV'ers love to travel Highway 80. How about offering something to them to raise revenue for the city of Waskom? How about offering something for kids and teens to do after school besides walking the streets? What about a food program for the elderly in Waskom? There is so much to be done that can make Waskom such a great little city but instead it looks like a dump.

Bless your heart, the first thing I'm going to do is listen to the people who have such great ideas as these, instead of having a closed mind. These are the type of things we need in this town.We need to be open to new ideas. We have seen in the past 15-17 years none of the things you have mentioned has happened.Lets take a chance on the future. I have great intentions of not letting you or the people of Waskom down. I am a very open person, If you see me on the street, feel free to stop me and ask any questions you may have. Thank you David Young.

When I moved here in '94 there was a local newspaper & downtown had several businesses. Now look @ it. It is a crying shame that the present administration has kept progress out of this area because of special people that don't want any advancement. Yet the present city administration has allowed a Methadone Clinic to open here when Shreveport & Bossier would not. This action tells me that we need to elect someone who will take the reins & help make this town more attractive. Mr. Young has my vote for the future.

I have met Mr. Young and his family, I can say they are outstanding people. He has the best of intentions running in this election. It is about time that someone has stood up and said,"It's time for a change" I believe whole heartedly that Mr. David Young is that "change" that we NEED! This town has been run into the ground and its time to bring it back to life. Mr. Young we stand behind and support you 110%

Then Mr. Young - We need more info. I don't even know when the election is for crying out loud. If you are truly up for this job then I would love to help you get elected if it means big changes for Waskom. We need a campaign - a real campaign - we need a town hall meeting and some way to announce to Waskom residents where and when. We need feedback from residents - we need yard signs - we need your platform. I would love to help in any way I can. The first step is a meeting with all of those who want to see you get elected. When and where? Say it and I'll be there! Lets get the waste out of Waskom and clean it up and make it thrive! By the way Mr. Young - I may have met your wife the other day. Does she run the little "garage sale" place in Waskom? Just wondering. I bought a little cabinet there! Waskom can be so awesome with some foresight - hard work and getting the residents excited about the future!

Mr. Young, we need a time and place where everyone can come to meet you and ask any questions they have. This town needs the chance to see you face to face. All they hear is current mayor "Jessie Moore" then some "other guy" running against him. I have seen your signs out and will be there May 8th to vote for you, then again because I HAVE met you. Others may not have yet. Please for your own benefit set up a meeting at the City hall, or even your little shop, just a meet and greet, "this is what I'm about" type of meeting. Give yourself a true chance. Let everyone know your platform, that way they can make an informed decision when they vote.

I will be voting for Mr. Young, I have lived in Waskom for 21 yrs and I never knew we had a mayor until I seen signs(Mr. Youngs). We do need a change, we need someone that is willing to get out there and get the job done. Some one who is not worried about getting his hands dirty. I have seen Mr. Young out and about and I have met him, he is an extremely wonderfully nice human being. Mr Young, you deserve this--you have my vote!!!

As a former resident of Waskom I still have many ties to what used to be a great little town. In reference to the other comment concerning the clinic, there were many petitions signed by many residents against this clinic being located here but to no avail. This should be a blinking red light that the tax paying citizens have NO say. It is my understanding that property taxes will go up 10% if the present city officials (Mayor & Aldermen) are re-elected. I will encourage my ties in Waskom to vote for a clean sweep of this town's governing bodies.

May 8 is the election day, it is on everyone of Mr. Youngs signs...I am all for Mr.Young and what he is trying to do for this town but his mayoral election does not begin to desribe this man..He has helped *SO* many poeple in this town, with small and large projects..From simple little things to Difficult, and when asked what does someone owe him...He simply Shrugs and says "NOTHING".If only everyone could be as kind hearted as Mr.Young and his family. He does so many things for people in this town.I will gaurantee one thing, knowing Mr.Young,He WILL NOT stay hidden from our town. You have a problem ?Go talk to him,He'll actually do his best to get something done about it.We have another Tornado? He'll be one of the first one's there on his little red tractor to offer his assistance, just as he was after the last one.He is a Great and Honorable man!He has my vote!!

I could not ask for a better father that is for sure..He is an honorable man and just all around good person and he taught us all to be the same.NEVER will you see him be selfish..He will literally give you the shirt off of his back,We grew up always helping our neighbors and anyone we saw that needed help.If my dad (David Young) is elected I'm sure the town of Waskom will not regret it.If he could raise us with the respect for others that we all share,he could make Waskom a Respectable town that no one would hesitate to live in ..Thanks to everyone for all your wonderful words.Anytime anyone wants to talk with him he is majority of the time at my moms little shop on the corner of 80 and the spur feel free to stop by Anytime he will not hesitate to talk with you . again Thank You

To the people who commented. You do not live in Waskom. The man who is running aginst Jesse Moore does not have the experience Mr. Moore has. Mr. Moore is doing a great job being the Mayor of Waskom and should continue to be. If you attened the forum on Monday night. You would understand how our money is being spent wisely. I would rather have decent water and sewer then cute places for motercycle and RVs to visit.

I have lived in Waskom for the past 25 years and I have never had any complaints about how the city is run. You have failed to notice the new things in Waskom. We have 2 new dollor stores, new phone company bulding, library, and new park. If we allow kids to ride skateboards and bikes in the park someone is going to get hurt. I have seen alot of birthday parties given at the park for kids. It is not just for the elderly. I would much rather have water in the event of an emergency than to spend tax dollor to renivate down town. We are making good progress in the school system also. Doesn't one of the buildings belong to Mr. Young? Is he planning to tear it down?I have 2 kids in the school system that I would not send anywhere else. This town has always stood by its residents like family and that is very important to alot of people.

What experience does Mr. Young have in running a city? Has he ever been to a Waskom city council meeting? It's easy to sit back and say things need to be changed but sometimes it is not as easy as it seems. We have had alot of change over the past few years. The mayor doesn't have the only say so in these kind of things, we have a city council that has to approve things. If you had been to a meeting you would know this.

It's easy to say it's time for a change, but unless you know how government works, it is very hard to get anything changed (just look at the Federal Government, it works the same way). Has Mr. Young even bothered to attend a City Council meeting, to know what's going on in town? Has he researched the State laws to know what he can or can't do? He ran for Mayor 2 years ago with the slogan "Do you know who your Mayor is? You WILL!"" He never came to my house, never stopped me at the post office, or at any of our THREE NEW BUSINESSES!!! I don't think I will be voting for Mr. Young.
