Alaskans should make the most of Palin's popularity

Dec 10, 2010 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Alaska Journal of Commerce

Time's come to get realistic about all this Sarah Palin-mania. Alaskans have, for the most part, had their fill of the half-governor and would be quite happy to never think much about her again.

i think you should to the same degree that california is proud of lyndsey lohan, kim kardashian, and paris hilton. your armani-clothed city council person wouldn't know the business end of a rifle if she was staring down the barrel.

p.s. learn to hold the gun, then take some range practice before filming commences.

The man in the White House sure knows what he is doing. He knows how to cram socialism down the throats of people here in America but he is dumb no diplomatic, when it comes to sucking up to the King of Saudi Arabia or giving the Queen of Britain a DVD or some stupid thing of him. She definitely is interested in his home life. He knows how to shoot the bird to the governor of Arizona and take her and the state to federal court for trying to defend themselves from an invasion. He knows how to milk an accident in the Gulf for all the political gain he can get. This happens to a British company in international waters and he gets away with it which is more proof he is controlled by the world elite. It isn't any wonder Americans are hated and despised, even by Europeans. I have never seen such a more egotistical, self loving narcissus in the WH or in government for that matter. Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is allah's gift to mankind all. The mirror answers, you, of course, Barack.

That's utter bullshit.

The fact of the matter is, according to the NEW YORK TIMES:

"Obama Gets High Marks Abroad, Survey Finds"

By NICHOLAS KULISH NEW YORK TIMES

o BERLIN ó "Struggling at home, President Obama has maintained much of his high popularity abroad after more than a year in office, a new global survey has found, receiving high marks for his handling of the economic crisis...

"...the popularity of the United States has risen most notably over the past year among respondents in Russia and China. Both countries are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and are essential to American efforts to rein in Iranís nuclear ambitions."

So what is Mr. Owl's idiotic statement based on?

The quotes above are based on a survey of nearly 25,000 people in 22 countries published Thursday by the Pew Research Center.

And you're basing that on what? Because Saturday Night Live told you so? You don't get as far as she has in life by being stupid.

OK, let's talk about Sarah. The best thing she could do is look out for Alaska by getting a grassroots movement going for Alaska to take care of Alaska and Alaskans and shoot the political bird back to Washington the socialist capital of America. Alaska is sitting on a gold mine in the form of oil. Sarah Palin should mobilise the Alaskans and tell Washington we are drilling for oil whether you on the Potomac like it or not. All this federalism and federalist BS mixed with the Washington form of socialism is nothing but detriment to Alaska and the other 49. The socialists in Washington do NOT give a rat's rear end what happens out here in the real world but they are only concerned about their socialism and socialist power they can amass inside the beltway. In the words of the Republican-Democrat/socialist Lisa Murkowski, quote, I will go to Washington and work with the Democrats, unquote. Her words, not mine. Oh good, just what we need, another Washingtonian. The majority of you people on this thread, do you really believe Lisa Murkowski and the other Washingtonians have the interests of Alaskans and the residents of the other 49 at heart. If you truly believe that, then you are socialists at least in spirit.

hello, mr. owl. happy new year.

1. would alaska agree to return their annual revenue contribution from the fed, which is the largest in the country, per capita?
2. there are more people on the fed/state dole in alaska per capita than any state in the union. you have found the socialist enemy in the very state you're trying to save.
3. which interstate, federally-regulated company(ies)do you have in mind to do all this drilling, which they can't do without federal licensing? or, are you suggesting that alaska secede from the union? perhaps, alaska would be willing to become a suburb of providinya, siberia, then wildcatters would be free to do all the drilling they want without state sanction.
4. would you prefer that lisa murkowski work with her colleagues or just "say no?" even you or i could do that job, and we wouldn't have to pay all those congressmen and senators all those salaries, office expenses, travel expenses, etc. we could just submit our no votes via topix from home.
5. what are you going to do with the 18,000 federal gov't employees in alaska? deport them? jail them for sedition?
6. why don't you start a local movement in north carolina to tell washington to take a hike, secede from the union, and i don't know..maybe sell tobacco or duke university gear?

NO, NO, NO, I mean you people need to keep on sucking the Washington teat for everything you need. Socialism is grand. This is the very reason the British who have put up with socialised medicine is trying to wean themselves but since this cancer called socialism in their medical system has been there since 1948, it will be hard to get the Londoners in the government to drop control of such a huge government beast. It didn't take the Canadians as long to learn this sickness being they got their system in 1984 and provincial coutrs are now knocking down the health care Canadians are supposedly happy with. There are some people in the USA who honestly believe they can take care of their own lives without BB. A lot of us are here because our ancestors from the Highlands could take care of ourselves and we can also. I am not trying to save Alaska or anywhere else. That's up to Alaskans and I appreciate your sarcasm. You people can't see your nose for your face. Greater countries and empires than the United States are no longer here. There are some of us in this country who don't like socialism but that is neither here nor there for you. You think the federals know more what Montanans need than Montanans and you can substitute any state you want. It is the old running confrontation between federalists and states righters. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and all the others know what is best for Fairbanks more than the citizens of Fairbanks. That is your and their rationale. Ben Nelson of Nebraska knows the needs in Pike County, Kentucky better than Pike Countians do. This is your federal rationale and truthfully it sucks. If you are happy with the gigantic hog on the banks of the Potomac, fine and good, but some of us believe they should be defending this country from enemies and leave the rest to the locals but no you have to have the beast. Do you have any idea how much one trillion dollars is and our budget is in the TRILLIONS.

Hey, Trike, in as plain words as I can muster up, other the defense of this land called the USA, your hoggish friend, Big Brother, on the banks of the Potomac, needs to keep its huge snout out of the business and money troughs of the states. What the crap is so hard to understand about that? That is the answer to all your questions. Consequently it is a waste of time answering them individually but for you here it is. The answer to all 5 questions and the 1 statement is, Potomac HOG, defend the country and the rest is the business of the individual states. Does that answer the questions. Obviously the answer from you will be NO.

who is going to:
- pay me back for the social security payments i've made for over 40 years?
- keep the majority of states from bankrupting themselves?
- keep all those international trade agreements in operation now that we have sold our collective manufacturing "soul" abroad?
- regulate wall street?
- deal with the illegal immigrant problem?
- deal with the $13 trillion dollar national debt?
- ensure fair interstate trade practices?
- deal with opec for oil acquisition?
- represent our interests abroad?
- house all the federal penitentiary inmates after you close the prisons?
- adjudicate federal crimes?

i can go on and on, but you get the picture. the only way your political agenda gets accomplished as a practical matter is for all the states to secede from the union. tell me that is what you really want, and then you can tell me how this is going to work.

Yeah, I must be the only democrat in this whole state. Republicans promote the most communist actions. They are the main reason the economy sucks. But she is slso a Bill Clinton mirror image. She gave this state a bad name. No wonder most of my friends (also democrats) moved to Germany because of republican actions. That's as far as I'm going. And she needs to quit using her cheesy smile and 80's hair style.

Actually Owl has a very good point. I for see this nation of ours breaking up if something doesn't happen real fast to reverse the trend. Washington is a overfed pig, that can only drag the country down, and is doing a bang up job of it. In general, people need to take responsibility upon themselves and away from the government. Alaska has never escaped the controlling hand of the federal government, even though we tried a few times. Statehood was supposed to give us more freedoms but The federal controls just got worse. As far as Palin's popularity goes, the article is a bit humorous and fun. It would be a typical Alaskan thing to do as most of us that are from this state do know how to survive when the s*** hits the fan.
