According to the meat company employee this dog has a long history of going on private land and killing their animals. Why wasn't the dog tied up or fenced? Where is the owner's responsibility? It is illegal in Washoe County to allow a dog loose. It must at all times be fenced, leashed or under voice command control.
News flash. Not everyone likes dogs. Be responsible or keep something like fish.

Sad to see the dog get shot, but it was the dogs owners fault for letting it run loose, if it was my property I would have shot it too. I was raised on a farm dogs running lose chasing cattle or killing chickens they were shot , and it did not make the news or a major investgation. S. I Reno

Exactly. The unwritten rule of the three S's:
Shoot, Shovel, Shut up.
I'm an animal lover myself, but when/if an animals behaviour crosses the line, it's time to nip it in the bud- by whatever means as may be necessary. Failure to do so will only result in repeated occurences of the undesired behaviour. If the owner of the offending animal gets upset about the way the situation is handled..... well, then that's just too damn bad. They should have thought of that before deciding to take on the responsibility of owning the critter in the first place.
