There needs to be a special punishment for the idiots that do this. Delivery guy trying to make an honest buck and BAM, robbed, or worse, as we have seen.

"Special pusnishment?" What's that to be, old man: Thumbscrews? Mandatory jail time? Or an old conservative favorite: torture? Robbery is robbery, and we have the laws now to deal with it. Shall we have the police ignore the gunplay between gangbangers, to assure that your pizza is safely delivered to your door, old fool?

I honestly do not care about the "Gunplay and the gangbangers" as long as they kill each other and do it cleanly. I do not want to pay the ER and follow up costs ever again.

I do think that when a person just trying to earn an honest dollar is ambushed, robbed and humiliated that the criminal deserves a special punishment. I would think hard labor in public would be a good start.

The reasons the taxpayers foot the ER bill is the failure of the GOP to work to create national healthcare that citizens of every other first world nation- without exception- enjoy. So quit yer bit*thin', old man. And it has been YOUR party's failure to pursue an effective jobs program to reverse a jobless recovery that was the result of YOUR party's disastrous economic policies under Dubya Dumazz Bush! Interesting to note that the immediately preceding chief executive, nor his VP will appear in Tampa this month; even Dumazz realizes his tenure is something of which the voters cannot be reminded!

I'm a Libertarian. There's no reason for the taxpaying public to continually provide care to these idiots when there are kids in actual life threatening conditions through no fault of their own. Each one of these gangbangers who survive cost, and cost and cost taxpayers and honest people with coverage. As Obama says, it's not fair, just not right.

Libertarians are like Tea Parties nut jobs; they're not just Republicans, supposedly, but EVERY SINGLE TEA PARTY CANDIDATE ran as Republicans. When the Libertarians can elect candidates, I'll consider them political party. Today you've got two choices, and you're surely NOT a Democrat, that's for certain. So get real, and own up to your party, wus!

As the Democratic soul is communist at it's base, it's the Republican who has the Libertarian at it's base. Democrats are frustrated Communist slaves, while Republicans are wanna' be Libertarians.

(skip the bigoted comments, many races and creeds have and continue to use "slaves")

Ah, so once called on it, you now freely admit the affinity between Libertarianism and the GOP, rather than attempt to deny any substantive association.

And you can't be serious with that "Democrats are frustrated Communist slaves" bullsh*t! And you can't understand why Americans won't identify with the right wing-nut/Libertarian base of the GOP!

What an azzhat!

Only that, as things go, the GOP is closer to the Libertarian concepts than they ever would be to the Democratic/Progressive systems. One thinks you should work and then vote, the other thinks you can vote so you don't have to work. The ant and the grasshopper come to mind.

Good gawd, old man! Only you would attempt to reduce an understanding of the two dominant American party ideologies to one of Aesop's Fables! There is an alternative tradition, however, old fool, in which the ant is seen as a bad example.

A counter-fable in Greek, it relates that the ant was once a man who was always busy farming. Not satisfied with the results of his own labour, he plundered his neighbours' crops at night. This angered the king of the gods, who turned him into what is now an ant. Yet even though the man had changed his shape, he did not change his habits and still goes around the fields gathering the fruits of other people's labour, storing them up for himself. The moral of the fable is that it is easier to change in appearance than to change one's moral character. The lesson lies in the realization that the ant's virtue and vice, are hardly distinguishable but by name. And that is the essential danger of the incipient greed and inhumanity of conservatism!

I think, perhaps, that your "Greece" should heed it's own advice. They are such a great example of the results of lounging at the public trough. Remember, when the Greek fable was presented Greece was a power in the then known world and they had multitudes of slaves at their bidding. Since they have succumbed to the teat of government it's been downhill ever since.

Wow, first an author of Greek fables is brilliant, then the country as a whole are fools. Sounds like true Romney flip-flopping, old man; Willard's clearly your boy!

My name changing foil has a deep set problem with the truth. Watch, next he will blame Bush for the quality of the cheese on the pizza and make the case that the delivery person deserved the robbery because they had invaded the perps 'hood. If the pizza parlor had only given the pizza away, the violence would not have been necessary and it's george Bush's fault, you see. His Obama would have it spread around.

Ah, yes, old man... called on your bigotry, and realizing you cannot deny it, you vainly attempt to justify it as being a more reasoned response by fabricating bizarre and utterly ridiculous extrapolations of the supposed outcomes of a belief in the fundamental rights granted all US citizens under the constitution.

Good gawd, save America from the right wing-nut whack jobs of the GOP!

So you are saying that these creepy idiotic ambushers that stole from and terrorized a pizza industry worker have a fundamental right to ply their craft? Since time began, this has been wrong and I will state again, they need a special punishment. Your progressive BS has gone way too far in this instance, but then, the progressive theories have always gone too far.

Sorry for the "cut & paste" but this is not just a Pittsburgh thing. Perhaps some sort of tribal rite of passage?

DETROIT (Talk Radio 1270) Has it come to this? Yes it has, according to Joan McKenna, whose son Tim McKenna, 19, was shot while delivering pizza in Detroit.

In the wake of the shooting, a Jets Pizza franchise in Dearborn ruled it will no longer deliver to Detroit after dark. Before the shooting, they sent two drivers to every nighttime Detroit delivery, one of whom was armed, Joan McKenna said.

“They usually send somebody with a guy … who carries a gun,” she said.“Usually they have two go into Detroit after dark, if they have a delivery … One guy has a legal, he can carry a gun. That night, Timmy was the only one left, they had this one run to do, he said ‘yeah, I’ll do it.’ He’s a kid, he doesn’t think anything’s going to happen to him.”

"Creepy and idiotic." They're garden variety robbers who sought a soft target, and were successful. And why does opposing your bigotry imply that I endorse crime, you old fool? That's ludicrous on the face of it! And robbing pizza delivery drivers hasn't been going on "since time began," ya' azzhat! And opposing bigotry has little to do with progressive politics, unless you will concede that conservatives are more prone to exhibit racist proclivities. You are the one pushing the bullish*t here, old man!
