Why are we lowering the standards? Is it just to get folks that are probably leaning liberal or far to the left out there so they can vote? Sounds like we have some issues here with our last two Governors. Someone please help find a good alternative.

Sure has been a while since we raised the state tax so we could have better roads. Sure haven't seen that money fixing our commuting issues....

The key word in this article is "non-violent." By this they probably mostly refer to users of illegal drugs, who should have never been jailed in the first place. If that is the case, I think it's OK to restore their voting rights.

Why not let people who are incarcerated vote? We let illegals vote, so what the heck!! My husband went to register in person and he brought his Passport with him for ID. They said they didn't need it, no ID is needed if you register in person!!They can't ask if you're legal or not either!! Our country is in such a sorry state right now.

Interesting Official expansion of the voter-base. Why no letters of recommendation? Because you have to give a damn to make that happen. This is a sad joke and Virginia drifts closer to Florida...

Why should they not have the right to vote. i don't get that any way. Ok they paid society for their debt yet we still take away a basic right. And FYI to all the black people we still do not have the RIGHT to vote...remember that little bill passed by W this year.Yep they still have to sign a law for us to vote. Illegals and foreign born have it better than blacks!

Child molestation is a non-violent crime and identity theft is too but think of the devestation is causes to the victims. And there are many other crime that affect the lives and sanity of its victims. And drug criminals are responsible for some of the most heineous of crimes. Are these these people we want voting into public office our elected officials? Apparently they are the ones the liberal democrat communist like Warner and Kaine want. They will pander to criminals, homosexuals and any other non-productive low life they can dig up out of the gutter or they beds to get a vote.

I agree, there needs to be a system of checks and balances in regards to the voting process.

No Illegals, 100% ID Check, and yes the standard on felons should be Raised, not lowered. However, if they are non-violent, depending on the crime, then I see no problem with them getting their voting rights restored.

I'm fine with a process to allow re-enfranchisement. A felony is a felony. How about a non-violent child molester? or a non-violent arsonist? or a non-violent burglar? Non-violence is only the first filter of what should be many to allow these folks to vote once more. What's happening here is the dropping of any process that required the offender to pursue re-enfranchisement. It is as if they have the right to vote back because the got parole.

One's right to vote is sacred and need to be treated as such. At least 2 letters of recommendation should be obtainable as proof that the felon has mended his ways, and deserves the right back.

This looks too much like efforts in other states to inflate democratic voters rolls.

Exactly. Mark Warner, a Democrat, would like to help both his own upcoming Senatorial campaign and the Presidential campaign of Democrat Barak Obama. How can he do this? By reinstating the voting rights of convicted felons - an overwhelmingly Democratic constituency. Now there are an extra 6000 Democrats in Virginia who can vote.

Good grapes! Has the Democratic Party gotten so intent to win that we resort to buying votes from criminals?

He's not the father of her baby. Since when have black men claimed children? They are too busy trying to get out of taking care of their responsibilities.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Capricorn

If you're feeling lonely and vulnerable, it seems as though someone is out to get you. Perhaps you're separated from the people you love and you don't like it. Try not to mope for too long, because there are important things that need your attention. Speaking of which, if you need to do something that you're dreading, you'll feel much better if you can get it out of the way quickly. If you leave it, the very thought of it will drain your energy.
