Who is the right woman?- Hopefully not Palin or Bachman. They are both idiots with a pretty face. I would vote for a serious conservative woman - but the key word is "serious."
Check out Susana Martinez, governor of New Mexico. If I had to pick the best woman Republican at this point, she is it.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley would be next.

Either one would be a contender, both for the Republican nomination and to beat Hillary Clinton.

But as it now stands, the most likely Republican nominee will be Rand Paul.

For those who compare him to his father and his ill conceived run for the nomination, consider this: Rand Paul is not his father. There are significant differences. For one, Ron Paul is a Libertarian on all issues, economic and on the "moral" issues like abortion. The Republican base likes his economic ideas, but couldn't accept his Libertarian stand on the "moral" issues. Rand Paul won the Republican nomination for Senate in Kentucky by taking the generally held conservative line on the moral issues - and he did so in absolute terms. That earned him the support of an organization called the Family Foundation of Kentucky, a religious-political group that is part of James Dobson's Focus on the Family. It has tremendous political power in the state, as Focus on the Family does everywhere in the South, Texas, Plains states, and even in areas of the "Blue" states outside their big city urban cores. It is in fact a religious political party in all but name, a party within the Republican Party.
