A talk show host made an excellent point today. Arizona has taken steps (which mirror Federal Law) to protect themselves, as the Federal government is doing nothing. How is it that our State thinks that they can go against what Federal Laws are and legalize marijuana. I am not against marijuana, but the politicans and educators arrogance is just hypocrisy at its worst!

The LA supervisors and LAUSD are obviously wrong, and have no idea what SB1070 says, because they haven't read it.

I read it myself. It doesn't cause profiling. It specifically forbids the targeting of a person by race, country of origin, or color in determining legal status.

And to the LA supervisors and LAUSD, if you're having trouble understanding the bill, let me help you out by putting it here for you to read:

SENATE BILL 1070
AS AMENDED BY HOUSE BILL 2162

Sec. 2. Title 11, chapter 7, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding article 8, to read:

ARTICLE 8. ENFORCEMENT OF IMMIGRATION LAWS
11-1051. Cooperation and assistance in enforcement of immigration laws;
indemnification

(Section A omitted)

B. FOR ANY LAWFUL STOP, DETENTION OR ARREST MADE BY A LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A
LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OF A COUNTY,
CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE IN THE
ENFORCEMENT OF ANY OTHER LAW OR ORDINANCE OF A COUNTY, CITY OR TOWN
OR THIS STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN
ALIEN AND IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE
ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION
STATUS OF THE PERSON, EXCEPT IF THE DETERMINATION MAY HINDER OR
OBSTRUCT AN INVESTIGATION. ANY PERSON WHO IS ARRESTED SHALL HAVE THE
PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS DETERMINED BEFORE THE PERSON IS RELEASED.
THE PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c). A LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR
OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE MAY NOT CONSIDER RACE, COLOR
OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN IMPLEMENTING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SUBSECTION
EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY THE UNITED STATES OR ARIZONA
CONSTITUTION. A PERSON IS PRESUMED TO NOT BE AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY
PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES IF THE PERSON PROVIDES TO THE LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR AGENCY ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. A VALID ARIZONA DRIVER LICENSE.
2. A VALID ARIZONA NONOPERATING IDENTIFICATION LICENSE.
3. A VALID TRIBAL ENROLLMENT CARD OR OTHER FORM OF TRIBAL IDENTIFICATION
4. IF THE ENTITY REQUIRES PROOF OF LEGAL PRESENCE IN THE UNITED
STATES BEFORE ISSUANCE, ANY VALID UNITED STATES FEDERAL, STATE OR LOCAL
GOVERNMENT ISSUED IDENTIFICATION.

Now, LA supervisors and LAUSD, if that little part got past you, here it is again:

"...MAY NOT CONSIDER RACE, COLOR
OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN IMPLEMENTING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SUBSECTION..."

Did you also catch the other part that an officer must FIRST have a legal contact with someone? I'll run that by you again in case you missed it:

"FOR ANY LAWFUL STOP, DETENTION OR ARREST MADE BY A LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL..."

So, LA supervisors and LAUSD, let's review again:

1) A person must first have a lawful stop, detention, or arrest before determining immigration status.
2) The race, color, or national origin cannot be considered for determining immigration status.

Please read something before you start spreading false and misleading information about it.

And about that boycott - the rest of the people who support law abiding cities will be boycotting cities who don't enforce the laws they were sworn to uphold.

If you boycott Arizona, we'll buycott Arizona and boycott you.

They all say they haven't read the bill because they know it mirrors the Federal Law. Then they would have to agree-you see-their point is not losing here, not agreeing, just bullying-so I am getting tired of everyone giving them the pass on They haven't read the bill-we all know they can never admit as their cause is destroyed. They should all be challenged-do they really think we are that stupid?

I see the Supervisors do not care about Americans being killed by these illegal invaders. They do nothing to stop and all they can to support this invasion of our Country and the killers of our Children. They are accomplices to these Murders as they protect them from our Laws, at the same time denying Americans the protection of Law.

SO WHY IS EVERYBODY SO UPSET ABOUT ARIZONA ???

Simple solutions to a not so complex problem!

The "Show Me" state has once again shown us how it should be done. They need more exposure on this. Let's pass it around.

In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the Official language of Missouri . Nearly 90% voted in favor! English became the official language for ALL governmental proceeding in Missouri . It also meant no individual had the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.

In 2008 a measure was passed that required our Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person was found to be here illegally. It allowed Missouri law enforcement offices to receive training to enforce federal immigration laws. The bill made it clear that illegal immigrants would NOT have access to taxpayers benefits such as food stamps and health care through Missouri HealthNET.

In 2009 a measure was passed that ensured Missouri 's public institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are here illegally. The law also required all post-secondary institutions of higher education to annually certify to the Missouri Dept. of Higher Education that they had NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who were unlawfully present in the United States .

So while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is important to remember Missouri has been proactive in addressing this growing problem.

Missouri has sent a clear message that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome in our state and they are certainly NOT welcome to receive public benefits at the cost of Missouri taxpayers!

Not all teachers in LAUSD ar ok with the way it is. They just don't say anything about it. I think it's a disgrace, especially because I don't want my own children in LAUSD, even though I teach there. Many teachers in LAUSD put their own kids in private schools if the can afford it and so do many of the administrators. Motto is close the achievement gep, not excellence for all.

I guess the LAUSD teachers would know, If they teach thier and refuse to put their own students their, you know somethings wrong.

As for the immigration policy I think we need to adapt the same policy Mexico has to protect their Southern Boarder
