Bless Holmes-Norton for having the fair, but her staff needs to work to make it a true "opportunity". I am not an ex-offender and their was nothing but false hope to be had at that fair. The, "you could leave with a job," statement in the job fair flyer was far from realistic.Very few employers were actually seeking to hire anyone at the fair or even had openings. The pre-fair publicity stated that employers with confirmed openings would be interviewing and accepting resumes. Only two booths accepted my resume and they made it clear that they likely would not be reviewed by anyone. Almost all the booths I visited, and I made it to almost all of them, were simply handing out flyers instructing people to visit their website or usajobs.com .That's something I already do on a daily basis. A good majority had no current openings but still directed you to take a look at their website. I spent lots of money printing resumes on premium paper and on transportation, plus used time that I normally would have spent online job searching. Every fair goer that I spoke to felt the same, and some were very irate.
