Right now i live in Monroe,MI. but want to move.
I am thinking southern Ohio. And Washington C.H. looks
like a good fit as there is easy access to three major cites. I like the small town setting but am under no allusions that i will have to travel to work in a major city. So whats everyone's opinion on the area?

Honestly I wouldn't recommend WCH. Lots of drug problems there. Also people aren't really that accepting of outsiders. I would recommend Circleville or Xenia. I've heard (only heard, never experienced) good things about both of them. Check it out. My aunt lived in Circleville when I was little and summer there was fun.

not as bad as WCH though. That's ALL i hear about from there. Sad. I just don't pay attention to the drugs and BS, it's the only way I could live in a city.

Yeah , I noticed that most of the threads on here are
not really positive. And that comment about people not
really being accepting of outsiders seems kind of backward if you ask me.I asked this question on
another Ohio forum and got mixed opinions but the
over all opinion was nice people but not alot going
on in town.So far this forum is telling a different
story.Keep the opinions coming as i want to know
what im walking into if i move there, and the perspective from people with (boots on the ground)
so to speak can be invaluable.

Greenfield is much nicer and so are the people.

Greenfield is nice but there is NO option for shopping other than 2 grocery stores and no real option for going out to eat. Honestly you might look into Chilicothe. A little further away from dayton, but a straight shot to columbus (104) and a straight shot to Cincinnati on 50. tons of food options, plenty of shopping, and a few movie theaters, a bowling alley, and a skating rink for activities. If you like going out and doing things, it's a nice place to live.

Ray, prime example of why you don't want to live in WCH, people acting completely foolish.

Ashley, thank you for giving me your honest opinion
on all of this. And i see what you are saying as
i looked through this forum and it seems there is
a lot of drama that goes on.but that could be said
about any small community.I lived in a smallish
town in Florida for 10 years before moving back
to Michigan recently, and there was no shortage of
drama there.I still am not sure where i want to
move yet but as i am 35 i could do with out drama.
thanks again for your advice!

I have to agree w Ashley Circleville is beautiful & I loved living there w my husband & boys. My husband whole family lives there. U have a variety of stores & new places to eat now. Its near chillicothe, columbus, lancaster. Its more of a retirement town but its great, Pumpkin show every year. Theyve really cracked down and theyre cleaning up the drugs

Court House really isn't that bad of a town. Sure you have the everyday problems of drugs, thieves, and drama but I believe you will find that everywhere. The town is located where you can go to the big city within an hour and smaller scale cities such as Xenia or Chillicothe within 30 minutes. I think it all depends on you and what type of lifestyle you live or desire. Are you looking for a town that pulsates every night? Then Court House isn't the town. If you are looking for low key existence then here or one of the surrounding communities like Jeffersonville or New Holland may be suitable. Of course other factors should weigh in your decision like children if that is the case- Then you would have to check the school systems, etc. I have managed to live pretty low key without drama in this town for 40+ years.

I didn't think to suggest Jeffersonville. As far as location, it's the best. not to mention a nice little outlet mall, a few food options and other shopping choices. I don't know what the situation is there as far as drugs or drama, but that is what i DO know :)

You should try getting on Circleville Topix. You'd change your mind in just a few minutes.

Ray N.,

I was born and raised here and always said if I ever moved away I'd never come back. I did move away after high school to the city and loved it. Unfortunately, circumstances brought me back here and I am personally miserable. I think it's a case of you either hate it here or love it here. There really isn't much of an in between feeling in my opinion. I get really tired of people that say, "well move if you don't like it here." That would be great if there was no job, mortgage, or kids involved. It's not that black and white and highly unrealistic. I'm sure there are much worse places to live, but do I recommend it? No.
