Disgusted

Wartburg is my home and I'm always proud to be able to say that. Tonight is the first time I can't say that, however. I have never been as disgusted and embarrassed with my hometown as I was tonight. Witnessing the poor display of not only some of our fans but our cheerleaders left me with a sick feeling. We were the hosts to a "neighborhood" team of good kids who just came to play a game of basketball and some of the language I heard in the stands DIRECTED AT THE KIDS(and in the hall from our cheerleaders calling the visiting cheerleaders bitches) really made me ashamed. Several of us were also witness to our own cheerleaders throwing the visiting cheerleaders pom poms in the TRASH!!! Who does this?!?! Where was the coach?! I would be appalled if their girls had done that to ours. Our boys won the game and won it FAIR (regardless of what the other side will blame on the calls against them). We didn't need to act like neanderthals and pouty little girls to back our team. It just makes us look bad. I for one will not be going to Oneida when we travel because I know the same poor behavior will NOT be shown to us and that will embarrass me even more. It'll prove we have no class. Rant over.

And I'm not from Oneida as my post says. I went to their topix site and the only way I could post was to make Oneida my home town. So don't anyone blast me for my mistake in not changing it back.

Q: You know what should embarrass you even more than the way highschoolers act? A: The fact that you've made a thread on Topix about it.

The only highschoolers that embarrassed me were the cheerleaders. The "adults" were the biggest embarrassment. And your comment is actually ironic since you obviously frequent Topix and comment on a thread you find silly. I was simply trying to find a public means to express my disappointment in watching a game with fans yelling cuss words at KIDS. But thanks for the useless input "hot dog".

You must be new to watching high school basketball games lol This has been going on for decades. And it's not just a Wartburg and Oneida thing. Tensions can run high between rivalries and unfortunately things can get out of hand at times. I was at the game and saw a lot of antics from both sides (although being from Oneida and seeing how ridiculous the one-sided calls were, I will say we might have had more reason to be rowdy lol) Many of us DID see the Wartburg cheerleaders throw our cheerleaders pom poms in the trash and that was definately classless but that's a direct relection on the cheer coach and girls, not the Wartburg fans or team. Either way, I'd suggest you not go to the games that have the highest potential for deep-rooted rivalries ;) As for Hot Dog, I agree with Disgusted! You just blew your own "maturity" out of the water with your stupid comment lol

Obviously you don't know much about Oneida! Their coach is the biggest loser I have ever seen! He's a joke!

I was unaware that she was throwing the pom poms away until it was done, and I took care of her actions as I saw fit. However, you were not there when one of the ONEIDA cheerleaders cursed her and called her a senseless name for no reason and then they came and damaged our cheer call sheet. I know it's just paper but personal property is personal property. No one's pom poms were damaged or even dirty. It was simple high school rivalry. There's animosity between coaches, players, cheerleaders, and fans alike and people express it in different ways. We don't hold a hard spot in our hearts for the rivalry and if you're "disgusted" with rivalry, I recommend you go to another sporting event where rivalry is lower. If you have any questions or comments about MY CHEERLEADERS feel free to talk to to me, the coach, personally.

First of all, we would like to thank you "hot dog" for all of the adorable opinions. When you use the plural term "cheerleaders" it is a false statement. It was one CHEERLEADER. Although we completely find it reasonable after the fact that an Oneida cheerleader called her a b word and other rude comments. It doesn't reflect on all of us. Thanks "hot dog" :)

Yeah I would really like you to get your facts straight considering the fact that one of the OHS cheerleaders said some really rude words to one of our cheerleaders FIRST as well as ruin our call sheets, FIRST. If they wouldn't have done that, then she would have no intentions to randomly throw their Pom poms In the garbage.

Keep up the good work, girls. I'm proud of ya and to the cheer coaches, great job. I'm proud of all of you, including the ball players. To "disgusted", for our next game, why don't you just stay home and cry. We got this.

If you were really that "disgusted" you should have had the decency to come to our coach about it as soon as you saw the problem instead of putting this on Topix. As already mentioned, you didn't know all of the details. Yes, an Onieda cheerleader did say something very rude to one of our cheerleaders. But, I do not recall any of the other girls standing in the hallway, or anywhere at the game, cursing them. It was only one of our cheerleaders that put their poms in the trash, and DO NOT act like you saw all of us walk over there, because we did not. Their poms are fine, and our call sheet was ruined. Just because you were actually ABLE to see what ONE (Yes, just one) cheerleader did, that's not the whole story. She was provoked. Period. If you just wanted to "express your opinion" then you obviously knew better than to do it on Topix, because ALL of us will give you opinions right back.

Game boy, we aren't even talking about the basketball coaches. Our cheerleading coaches are both female. Don't try to interrupt a conversation you know nothing about.

Good grief, CHS Cheer Coach and Cheerleaders. Seriously?! The main rant was about how ridiculous some of the behavior was from the fans towards the players (on both sides I'm sure, but I was sitting on our players' side so I can only attest to that). Figures you'd be the only ones to take offense. The way you chose to address my comment proves how unprofessional you are and how that unprofessionalism affects your cheerleaders. I, of course, had no clue about what the OHS girls did. That's why I only said what I saw personally. And I PERSONALLY heard one in a group of our cheerleaders walk by their cheerleaders and call them bitches. Take it or leave it. It makes no difference what-so-ever in my life whether you fall apart over this or not lol Next time I see something as silly as what I saw I'll definately approach the coach personally instead of making a general statement in a PUBLIC forum. And to the coach's husband: What a man.
