did you know at a town meeting last night the town council has decided to have a hearing to raise the water and sewer for the town residents and is going to advertise to lower the connection fees for the Potomac Landing builders who has been getting a huge discount from the start. It looks like our town citizens are getting the shaft again. Gary Seeber thinks its a great idea and made the proposal after meeting with the developers and promising to find a way to cut their connection fees. Its time for the fixed income residents to be heard on this matter, can you really afford this increase. Look for the advertisement in the paper next week.

That's just crazy. Those fees are needed for future upgrades - why are citizens being asked to subsidize the developers??

If you cut the connection fees for builders, will they lower the price of their homes? NO, it's just more profit in their pocket. Wake up council!

Why are you discussing connection fees on the drug arrest topic?

if you cut the connection fee's wont it induce more connections , as in more homes on the grid and paying a water bill ?
i'm not saying i'm for or against it , just playing devils advocate , seems anything we can do to spur on the growth of our town should be looked at
and i do feel for the plight of the fixed income elderly , but inflation is inflation it was here well before any resident of CB was born and should be factored into a retirement plan
i wish as a town we had the money to install 4000 meters so those 1 and 2 person houses could enjoy silly low water bills and 4-6 person family houses would be paying a fair price for the amount they actualy use , but i dont see that in the near future
i'd like to see growth for this town , not just a governing body that codles the elderly and makes everyone else pay for it.

Selling houses will be supply and demand. that the current $12,000 over a 30 year mortage and it comes out less than $5.00 per payment so the buyer will not see the benefit.

Homebuilders will not supply a product if there is no profit available, or so slim that the risk/reward equation does not add up to being worthwhile. No different than any other "for profit" business.

The principal plus interest cost of a 30 year fixed rate fully amortizing mortgage at 3.875% is $4.70 PER THOUSAND per month.

By rapid calculation, if you add (or subtract)%6,000 to/from your mortgage amount, your payment will be impacted to the tune of roughly $28 per month (or $10,157 over the life of the loan).

Looked at in a different way, if you have a credit card on which the minimum required payment is $28 per month, that $28 per month is robbing you of $6,000 of purchasing power toward the purchase of a new home. In terms of interest rate, that would equate to about a 1/4% increase on a 200K purchase.

Sorry for being off topic but I couldn't let that less than $5.00 a month go without a clarification.

Well Ill be. Ive been using their math in my search for a $120,000 home for $50 a month. You just burst my bubble!:) To think they believe that stuff enough to type it, is disturbing at best. I dont want to even think what their checkbook ledger looks like. Thanks for clarifying this. I saw it the other day and meant to do the same and then forgot.

Why is the Town Council sticking their nose in Vals business. She is the one who makes laws. If they made them they would see that they are carried out.
How many employees does PW have. What do they do.
The town council protects Mr. Murphy. They need to talk to him about his job.

At budget meeting yesterday, Council decided the raise for water/sewer would be $24, not the $50 first proposed by Mr. Seeber. This seems more reasonable. It will be advertised in local papers when there will be a public hearing.

How is this relevent to the recent drug arrests? Granted the creep that used to "run" that department was arrested on drug charges but I am not making the connection.

Newland Rd residents beware. There are drug users and dealers on your rd. These same people also deal in stolen items so keep your valuables locked up tight before they get sold on the internet.
