Nelson Brown called me today and left a message. I tried to return his call but no answer. It appears that he thinks that I put something on my newscast about him retiring half way through his term. Rumor has it that he said that I need to get my facts strait before I put them on the NEWS. First, I did not put that on the news. second, I did hear that from several people and shared what I heard to everyone on this site as do all of the other people do on here. I think that someone told him that I posted something about him on topix.com and he assumed that it was my site. My post about him is on page 1 of this site. It is my opinion only and not a NEWS story. If you look at the post, It's not bad at all. In fact, I was agreeing with someone else who posted something about it.

Anyway, This is a site that a lot of people use to make there opinions known. Why is my 1 post being singled out? I have the right to my opinion and that is all that it is.

I'd like to see some fresh ideas get into government in general, and to win in today's political world, it's like David vs. Goliath when you challenge the incumbency. I like Ronnie Smith for Sheriff because he'll show restraint. He's mindful that as Americans we have certain rights that are not allowed to be infringed, which is really cool. If the culture of law enforcement was to protect and serve the community, not just getting into a fight, and then throwing somebody in jail, that's a change I'd support. We'd get more freedom of speech, of mobility, of privacy, of all the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. The Bill of Rights is a good idea in theory, but it seems like every year, each generation has to win their bagful of freedoms, and whatever they take is whatever they get. But then again, I haven't heard from Josh Neal and Nelson Brown. What are the issues that they stand for? What is their platform for Sheriff? What things will they keep the same, and what things will they change?

I have watched the video on Ronnie Smith and his main goal is to Legalize Marijuana. Granted over the years I dont believe I have ever had to fight anyone over them being high on marijuana unlike alcohol and other drugs. If Ronnie wants to legalize marijuana he needs to run for a State Office. Possession of Marijuana is ILLEGAL IN ALL 50 STATE. If any law enforcement officer fails to enforce the laws of kentucky he can be charged with dereliction of duty(meanig not performing his job as a sworn officer to up hold the laws of the land. If you want to educate yourself on all of the laws then go to law school.

and you think every time they pass a new law that we dont lose some rights. you are very young are have you head in the sand.by the way i have paid my way a lot more than you probably have.so don/t tell me we have not lost a lot of right/s.if you dont know this then you might need to relocate.

There is a differance between taking away rights and making laws. Law was created by the people for the people. Is everyone going to be completely happy? No, but the honest hard working, tax paying majority will. What is left are your lazy deadbeats to society that want nothing more than to cry about everything that does not go their way. I promise you I am old enough to know what I am talking about.

I was not debating the fact that we haven't lost some. It drives me crazy everytime I walk into a restaraunt and can't smoke a cigarette. However, to say we have NO rights is petty and immature. Very young? I wish. You've proven my point once again. Gallatin County is full of psychics that know everything about everyone.

I thought this site was about an election. I believe we have gotten side tracked a bit. By the way thanks John for the web pole on gcvideonews. Also John would you post the same article on gcvideonews that was in paper about the dead line for switching parties which is December 31 and if you want to register for the election it has to be done by I believe April 16, you might want to double check the dates, thanks.

I agree. We have gotten off topic. And it seems my debater here has misunderstood me. Selective hearing/reading? I know we have lost SOME. But once again.. to say we have lost ALL is ridiculous. I'll stop arguing at this point.

I am Ronnie Smith and I will vote for me!
for the record, It is not just the potheads who will benefit from me being sheriff. The families of potheads will be secure knowing that their loved ones won't go to jail for having flowers. People with CANCER and their families will benefit greatly from Ronnie Smith being sheriff, The oil from marijuana plants is the cure for cancer and as sheriff I will make sure anyone in the county with cancer will have access to the cure for free. Farmers will benefit because they will have a new crop to fill their unused land with, they can pay their property taxes to the county with the flowers and the rest of the plant can be used to manufacture everything from plastic to underwear and gasoline, plus the seeds will be a great source of protein!
People who are victims of crime will benefit because the sheriff and police will have more resources to investigate real crimes.

Ronnie although I do not agree with you I do support your right to freely speak your mind but you do have a problem, as sheriff you have no athority to change or make laws, as sheriff it is your duty to enforce exsisting laws.

curious that is right and if any sheriff does not enforce the laws he can be indicted in court. The sheriff is not the highest ranking official in the county the CORNER is. But for some one to shoot off at the mouth on a live video and talk about thing they dont know anything about is so funny, because the real world knows that it is bull shit.

The Sheriffs duty is to uphold and enforce the constitution of the state and the united states.

The sheriff has the sworn duty not to arrest marijuana smokers, especially if they claim it as a religious freedom, and even if they claim to be pursuing happiness, as long as they aren't hurting anyone else.
