Isn't it time we had some fairness? That old lying Rush Limbaugh, running his mouth for hours all of the time. Who in their right mind can listen to him or that bunch that is on thousands of radio stations across this land.

The Fairness Doctrine has been strongly opposed by prominent conservatives and libertarians who view it as an attack on First Amendment rights and property rights. Editorials in The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Times have said that Democratic attempts to bring back the Fairness Doctrine have been made largely in response to and contempt for the successes of conservative talk radio.

In June 2008, Barack Obama's press secretary wrote that Obama (then a Democratic U.S. Senator )

Obama Does not support reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters ...[and] considers this debate to be a distraction from the conversation we should be having about opening up the airwaves and modern communications to as many diverse viewpoints as possible. That is why Sen. Obama supports media-ownership caps, network neutrality, public broadcasting, as well as increasing minority ownership of broadcasting and print outlets.

In February 2009, a White House spokesperson said that President Obama continues to oppose the revival of the Doctrine.
So tell us why we should bring IT BACK?

It is about being Conservative, but the Conservative talk about smaller government, then spend more then anyone. While doing their air time, it is a ton of lies everyday. People that are prone to believing anything are being duped.

I'm not a conservative but, I can tell a lie from truth. The Dems. since Obama took office has told more lies hoping we would believe them. The Dems. just got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. We do need smaller government and less spending. Duped is what the Dems. hope we believe. I believe this is exactly what Obama has done to all of people. Duped.

And those reading this that are far left you better think really hard about supporting those in the democratic party calling for the fairness doctrine or laws limiting free speech aspects of political discourse.... Remember that when you give that power to the government you like it can and will be used by the government you hate... Give the government to control the limit or force content can someday be used by a government you hate to control Your Freedoms... How would you on the left feel about allowing the government to do such if the government was extreme right wing religious zealots and banned all speech that is in anyway anti religious and government.. with jail for political speakers

this is exactly, what the Big Brother want's to do control. Remember what Obama said, the Constituton is outdated wrote by a bunch old men, who btw was about his age when the Constitution was wrote. Obama and his minions is trying to do everthing in their power to do away with the Constitution. Like with the healthcare bill, using the Constitution for HealthCare for all, except Congress,President, Senators the healthcare is not good enough for them but it is for the rest of us. this is why we the little people want this healthcare repeled. They try and shove down our throats why not theirs to. Because they know the secret, the healthcare is not that great and they know it.

Now you're standing up against fairness? Wow... I think fairness is a good idea. The world should act according to what's just and what's not... not just want crooked Republicans who nearly destroyed America and the entire Global economy with their Trillions of dollars on War and zero for the poor, hungry, or destitute, or working class.

But I'd expect the Teapublicans to stand proudly up against fairness, or justice. They want their Rush to loudly speak, and then they champion the demise of the Democrats freedom of speech. They want Obama to fail, and America, and anybody who disagrees with them. Typical Classical Liberalism at it's finest.

Didn't Al Franken become US Senator? Seems like Air America did work. And didn't Rachel Madddow just get voted best newcomer of 2010? Yikes... these right wing talking hatred conservative heads got their work cut out for them... they're going to have to lie some more about the Death Panels that don't exist, and other lies they need to say in order to scare the old whites about that black Democratic President because the liberals are starting to look like they're gaining... uh oh! Quit Fox News... attack! It doesn't matter who, just attack!!!

No that doesn't sound fair. Does it sound fair that Ralph Nader, in order to get on the ballot for President, has to get 50,000 signatures in 50 states, and all the Dems and Repubs have to do is get 2 signatures, and $500 filing fee? Does that sound fair to you?

How about local communities... do they got public access cable news stations where they can reach a wide audience? Do they have access to mass media? Is that fair? Also, should it be okay that black folks are dying of diseases and get paid less for the same jobs that whites do? Is it fair that innocent Iraqi babies are dying now in the name of Iraqi Freedom, and 97% of the men in Afghanistan don't understand why the US is in their country? Is that fair? Is it fair that our prisons are being filled with non-violent criminals, and they are getting a free ride at the taxpayer expense, and Big Prison profits off calling as many Americans criminals as possible, meanwhile not giving the prisoners adequate life's necessities to live just because it saves a few bucks? Is it fair that the Internet is going to be censored by the FCC? Is it fair that the FCC censors TV? Is it fair that poor people don't have the same opportunities as the rich? Is it fair that prostitution is illegal? Is a fair fair?

Here it is in a nut shell. The doctrine grew out of concern that because of the large number of applications for radio station being submitted and the limited number of frequencies available, broadcasters should make sure they did not use their stations simply as advocates with a singular perspective. Rather, they must allow all points of view. That requirement was to be enforced by FCC mandate. The law was struck down in the 1980s
