Hello Warsaw, and dear friends of a wonderful River Town. Have any of you took a few minutes to visit some of the beautiful old homes there?

I was asked one time to put together some of the historic points for KET TV, and I wish I had done that. Warswaw, Carrollton, have so much to offer the vistor to the area. Did you know the old orange home in downtown Warsaw, is the oldest home? Actually it is a log structure. When will Warsaw restore it to its original state?
Carrollton has a brick home, the oldest brick home on the Ohio River between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Cairo Illinois.

Maybe there is someone that will see this, someone with the Historic Society, or someone will add something that will be interesting.

Does anyone know where the oldest log cabin in Kentucky is located?

Warsaw began as a landing on the Ohio River in 1798. In 1805, founder Colonel Robert Johnson surveyed and built a road from this landing to his former home in Scott County. This Ohio River landing soon became a busy shipping port and was referred to as Great Landing.

In 1814, Colonel Johnson and Henry Yates purchased 200 acres to establish a river town to be named Fredericksburg, after Johnson's hometown in Virginia. By 1815 the town plat was completed. The town extended from the Ohio River to Market Street and included 172 numbered lots, each 28 by 99 feet.

In 1831 the town was renamed Warsaw after it was found that there was already a Fredericksburg in Kentucky. In 1837 the Gallatin County seat moved from Port William to Warsaw.

In 1837 the Gallatin County Court House was built. An addition was built on in 1868 and the Court House was remodeled in 1939. Today it stands as the oldest Court House in the state of Kentucky in continuous use.

Yeah, there were like 15 courthouses that were burnt down during Civil War... the courthouse is the central governing location in all 120 Kentucky counties... regardless, it's still fascinating... when was GC's courthouse built?

The hot air coming out of the mouth Blue and Republicans is causing Global warming. I know, I asked Al Gore. Why don't you add something about Warsaw Blue? Do you have the brains to do that?
