Knox County KY Police destroyed a Gallatin County KY mans video!

Johnny Masters from Gallatin County KY is traveling all 120 counties in KY in 40 days to see what they have to offer. Well now we know what Knox County has to offer.
He called me from Knox county KY saying that he is at the Knox county Sheriffs dept and that he caught something on tape and they were deleting his video. Is this allowed?
I recorded the phone call from when he was at the station. I spoke to him 2 hours later, and he said they destroyed his video. I never did find out what he seen. We were cut off by phone.

To the first legitimate question. No, police offices or any law official can not confiscate and destroy video tape or any other property not belonging to them. It would be the same if I took someone's video camera and destroyed it for my own reason. Destruction of personal property is just that- regardless of the guise it is presented under.
