No. Their annuity companies and their investments are the reason we are in this financial mess. Wall street basically over levied their properties so those retirement funds that they had yet to receive could be recovered on the back end. Wall street bet on their previous trend of them paying their debts and got tricked. As another posted stated, "their excessive spending habits". Maybe the government is seeing this spending as a stimulation for the younger generation to earn an income that will support social security for the elderly and disabled. If their children don't want them to starve, let them take care of them. Tax exemption sounds like an future reason to cut more jobs. If cutting jobs is conservatism, America needs to start looking for an alternative to the system not just two outdatetd political stances.
Your comment is absurd ! Many that are retired have lost the annuities and other retirement funds due to the so called president. Many have been forced to retire early due to fact their jobs had disappeared and they could not find employers that would hire older workers

I think elderly should but the disabled is something else, if the person is disabled due to heart-back-etc then yes but these people that go to Drs just to get pills and say they can not work because of nerves or because addicted to drugs-etc then NO they should not because the people that are working are supporting them anyway - at least 50% of the people are not disabled they are working the system.

Your just bitter that you're the victim of the Ponzi schemes known as Social Security and Medicare. You were stupid enough to support and vote for decades of bad policy where you were suckered into paying the previous generation's costs in an unsustainable pyramid scheme. You continued to support and vote for leaders who further deepened the divide by running massive deficits to pay for these disastrous programs. Now you want to "get yours" while further robbing the younger generations and leaving them with the bag. At some point, you run out of younger people's money. In fact...you already have. You're already the beneficiary of organized generational theft, and now you want a tax break on top of that.

Um, wrong, geezer. You may have earned a comfortable living for yourself, but you earned it by allowing the govt to borrow money for years before I was born. Your social security and medicaire contributions were spent years ago when each retiree was paid for by a dozen workers. That money is gone. Now as you retire, you want just a couple of young workers to supplement your retirement, in addition to money borrowed by the govt against future generations. You want you disproportionate share of future generations' money, and now you have the ARROGANCE to say that you deserve all that and a tax break, too.
I never said my life is hard. I earned what I have. But I would never have the gall to say I deserved tax breaks just because I'm old. And I'm in a generation that realizes the unsustainable ponzi schemes set up by your generation. I realize that something has to be done to change it in order to not destroy the prospects for my own children. That does not include insisting on continuing to reward seniors with tax breaks, which just exacerbates the problem.

apparently, you haven't made any decisions to secure your future! Its simple tax breaks are designed for the wealthy,if you are really concerned about your kids future, work more hours or get a better job! The only person that contradicts anything in your life is you! If you know S.S and medicare is going to be a thing of the past in the near future! Learn to manage better! Its your future and yes its your problem! Uncle Sam shouldn't have to hold your hand like a 5yr old!

You contradict yourself! You are the ones arguing for a tax break for yourselves, as if you deserve it, while at the same time saying it's not important. I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy. I haven't asked for anything from anyone! You are the one with your hand out, and now your sticking your other hand out for a tax break. You didn't do anything to deserve a tax break except get old.

Your generation created the problem. You undercontributed into a system that spent your money on other people, and now you want a disproportionate share of the next generation's money. You're the one with your hand out to collect more money from Uncle Sam. You're all "Waaahh...I want a tax break...F the next generations of kids. I don't care if the country goes broke."
