Every and I mean every trailer park operating should be made to provide a shelter to hold all the residents period!

My brother has lived in them for years really nice ones and they didn't have one. Sure he chose to live there but the park HAS to be responsible.

Hope that helps Darrel

Well this is where I have to agree with Rusty!
I believe if it saves 1 life then it is worth it.
The problem I see is many will not go the shelters for one reason or another shelters will be their your life your choice hope you make the right one.

I'm hoping people who have children will use them. Just resently two people were killed when a tornado hit their trailer home in Missouri.Trailer homes are the most dangerous place to be when severe weather hits.I feel that people living in trailer parks need a storm shelter, and if the funds are there to build them then do it! I personally would not live in a home without a basment, or a near by storm shelter, but some people have no other choice when seeking affordable housing. There are also alot of elderly people who live in trailer parks. Alot of these elderly folks have no form of transportation to seek shelter when storms arise. So, I'm thinking shelters would be very beneficial to these folks, and save lives.

I do think maybe we need to realize that most trailer parks if not all of them are without storm shelters.
This goes back to the city and county government.
Requiring trailer parks to install safety approve storm shelters.
Their can never be enough shelters when tragedy hits.

Once again we have people wanting to rely on the government for their needs. TYPICAL. You have the choice of where to live, you know trailors aren't safe but you live in one anyway? This is what I'm sick of: Everyone relying on the government or someone else. If you don't feel safe then don't live there. The government should provide for YOU because YOU live in a trailor ???? Good lord when are people going to figure out how to take care of THEMSELVES ???

I used to love when Chris R. was the "Emergency Management Specialist" in Sweet Springs. The sight of him with that "walkie talkie" in his hand, looking up at the sky, impressing everyone with his coolness. The sight of him walking around during community events with that "walkie talkie" in hand, looking all serious, hearing him say "10-4" like he was actually, really talking to someone gave us such a feeling of safety, security and a sense that everything was gonna be allright because "Chris is on the job".

Jonny Quest, what do you think we the WORKING people pay taxes for? If a financially poor working family can find a trailer for $350.00 a month, and a house with a basement for %450.00 a month, which do you think they would choose? I'd say the cheaper rent because that is all they can afford, it's not a matter of choosing to live where there is no shelter. It's a matter of what they can afford. Voice your concern's to the people who live in earthquake, and hurricane areas of the country which the government is constantly helping everytime a disaster strikes.I seriously hope for your sake a tornado doesn't wipe out your home, and your homeowners insurance refuses to pay off. You might find yourself looking towards the government for help. You just never know where you might just end up at someday.

Maybe so, but then it's the government's fault that they don't make more money than they do so they could afford the house over the trailer ??

See man, it all comes down to one's self. See what you're saying is yes this is America, we all have the SAME opportunites but if you don't make the most of your's then we'll bail you out???? In your example it then goes back to who's fault is it that they dont make enough to afford the house over the trailer ?? I guess it's everyone else's fault huh ???

Yeah, tell the goverment to raise minimum wage up to eight, or nine dollars an hour, or more then maybe the poorer people busting their ass's for cheap wages can afford to rent a home with a storm shelter.People who make better wages have better opportunities then the poorer working americans. Everyone ele's fault?? Is everyone else the government? What do you mean by " then we'll bail you out? Do you work for the government? I have a very good paying job, but still struggle to make ends meet. I can only imagine how others making less feel. You have to make choice's, and yes it's all about choices as to rather you rent a home with, or without a storm shelter. It's choices as to rather or not you eat, or pay the utility bill. The economy just keeps getting worse. Fuel prices keep going up, and up which causes grocery prices to be on the rise. Utilities keep raising. How often do you see minimum raise go up? When it does, it isn't enough to meet the high costs of surviving in this world. Our goverment makes some pretty stupid decition's that effect all of us!!If they are going to send our money overseas to help people there, then by god why should we feel shame for asking for something? It's our money!! The goverment wouldn't have that money if it weren't for us!!!
