Anyone think that pro sports players are the most racist people around?
When it comes to a black Ray Rice punching out his fiancÚ(of color) the black players rally around him, his team GM (black) and coaches (mixed) support him and the league gives him a hoo hum penalty of missing 2 whole games. 2 games for a muscle bound athlete punching out a woman.
But when it comes to a white owner, who has very few years left on the planet and could hardly punch his way out of a paper bag, and who refrained from punching out his girl friend (of color) and instead used words to ask her not to hang out with a few black guys, every black guy on the planet wants his head on a meat hook. End result, he gets kicked out of the league by the pressure brought to bear by these racist players on a wimpy, weasely new commissioner.
Forgiveness should work both ways, but when all these black players say its OK to cold cock a women of color by a man of color, but it's not OK for a white man to even suggest with words that a woman of color should limit her associations, well then, that is the new definition of racism and it is alive and well and deeply embedded in the NBA. Sadly, the new commissioner is in over his head.
The proper response in both cases would have been to be harsher against Ray Rice for domestic abuse and less harsh on Donald Sterling for inappropriate words.
These events are a microcosm of the problem we face today. Blacks want to escape responsibility for their actions and hammer whites for the slightest infraction. Meanwhile whites falsely believe they are guilty for what some dead white guys did 100s of years ago, and try to make up for it by giving today's blacks special treatment. Both are wrong. Reverse racism (bending over for blacks in an attempt to make up for a century old mistake that todays generation had nothing to do with) is a problem within the white community; but the black community is not without fault. It is they who are actively promoting racism taking advantage of the sympathy some whites have for a dispicable history. The Sterling/Rice problems make it crystal clear who is at fault for what.
A lot like it being OK for blacks to use the N word but if a white guy uses it, he gets beat up or shot in a drive by.
Whites and blacks alike are screwed up so bad that they will only get better if they will imprint the words of Martin Luther King on their hearts.
It's not the color of a man's skin that should define him but rather the content of his character (paraphrased).
Until whites equally hold a black man accountable and blacks can equally forgive a white man, racism will remain.
