Warren Police Stop Sign Tickets...SCAM?

Has anybody received a ticket lately for running a stop sign? It is such a hard thing to fight.

My wife received one, even though she had a witness in the car who said she made a complete stop. Plus my wife had already spotted the police car before approaching the intersection, so she made doubly sure she came to a COMPLETE stop.

The officer in question has apparently written tons of these stop sign tickets to many of the neighbors. He even told one lady that the law requires you to stop for a full 15 seconds before proceeding!

The real kicker to this story that when my wife went to the hearing to fight the ticket, the cop who pulled her over didn't show up. Another cop did claiming that he was the one who gave her the ticket. My wife is very astute and has a great attention to detail and remembers faces. BUT it wouldn't be much of a challenge to realize that there were two very different cops involved.

The officer who actually wrote the ticket was short and skinny. The cop who showed up in court was tall and obese. On top of it all the cop in court embellished to story to say my wife rolled through the stop sign at 10 MPH.

What kind of scam is going on in Warren? And how can we stop it?

Hello. Warren City is corrupted.
I work at Warren and I see monthly the sign changed on Mound Rd, from 35MPH to 50 MPF and back again.
The cops will issue tickets for every possible way to issue the tickets. Ones I was pull over to drive to slow. Under the speed limit 25 MPH.
The cop was fullish idiots on the road. I have really fun with him. Cost me my time, but he didn't issue any tickets. Caps in Warren should be sent to IraQ. This place will be good for them.
They will issue tickets on toilet paper.
We do not have any POlice anymore. They are COWBOYS ON THE ROAD.
Stay away from those clowns. I wopuld like to purchase for every cap "red nose". They will looks perfect. What is your opinion.

Each time go to court and fight the ticket.
Always check the ticket is signed by the cop and check his number and name. You can always ask for than. He ca'nt refuse. If he will, it is problewm

Talking to my wife further, I have since learned that 7 people in her Clinton Twp office have received tickets in Warren.

Her work is such that she and her fellow workers are on the road quite a bit.

The thing is that 7 people out of a staff of 24 have gotten tickets in Warren in the past two months.

In other words nearly 30 percent of the on-road staff have received tickets in the past 60 days or so.

An absurdly high number. Unbelievable in fact.

Who can we complain to? Obviously taking it to the police chief or the judges will be met with a blind eye.

This is an outrage.

I work construction....I travel around the 5 county area...It is everywhere...It, being revenue colecting...that simple....warren is in on the "hidden tax" scam.....pay the ticket, no points...no guilt on courts...Shame, preying on the workers...dam commies....talk about job securiety.....and how about the pot laws...job securiety..and the cash cow that keeps giving...And the biggest shame is they and their sub-culture party enough to make a witch doctor blush....hiidden tax clowns...

I would not live in a city where the council has to be put on U-tube just to show the rest of the nearby public what a bunch of clowns they really look like. The city celebrated its aniversary recently....anbody attend and what was it like.
I hope it was good for the community - they surley need a break from the politics and other garbage they have to put up with. Sorry Warren officials. You have become a discrace by your infighting. Lots of nice places in the Shores if your interested

I have to make some comments here.

I got a ticket from some cop, a fairly small and very cocky man. He told me he gave nobody a break. He doesn't care if they are male or female, cute or knock down gorgeous...doesn't matter if they are nun or a priest. Everybody gets written up. No breaks.

I got the same kind of ticket. I saw the little dude in his cop car and came to a complete stop. He pulled me over and said that I didn't stop long enough. He claims you have to stop for several seconds even if traffic is clear. First I ever heard of that.

This was in the vicinity of Common between Ryan and Dequindre. I saw this same dude with his "little man syndrome" writing up somebody a couple weeks latter.

I just wonder how many bogus stop sign tickets are being written in Warren. When I was a kid, Fraser Police had a reputation as being tough...these jokers in Warren aren't tough, they are rude and they are writing tickets for no reason. And then they lie about the law.

Sick. Why can't Macomb County Prosecutor look into this. Or maybe the Hall of Shame Guy on TV.

Where is Eric Smith? Sounds like there is something to this scam. Did you call his office and speak to them about what seems to be a bad policy in Warren? Please do. It would be a relief for Mr. Smiths itennerary. What Iam saying... is the man has a lot on his plate these days. Even so, I'm sure they would be happy to register your complaint.

A Warren Police Officer that I my brother is acquainted with confirmed that the police there write tickets when there is no actual violation.

Stop sign tickets are the tickets of choice. And be warned, they park their cars so the dash cam video isn't picking up the alleged violation.

The officer spoke totally off the record as you can imagine.

thought i was the only one to get a ticket like this. happened to me in the early part of the summer. i know i stopped. the cop said i didn't. but they were offering a deal if i'd plead and pay the fine with no points. i got it over and done with and went on my way after putting a hundred bucks into the city piggy bank.

what a scam this is. i seriously think that the tv stations need to look into this. have talked to a lot of people who will drive all the way warren if they have time. kind of hard to do if you travel on 696 though.

I see where Channel 7 busted the Warren Police Commissioner for drinking on the job.
Like to hang out at the bars and pick up 12-packs of beer while on duty.
Tax money certainly going to good use in the Warren PD.
Maybe now we know why the cops have such a huge ticket quota and write bogus tickets...so they can pay for all those suds. LOL!!!!

I got a stop sign ticket for making a complete stop...and went i went to court they told me that if we paid an extra 10 dollars they would drop all charges and it would just be a fine. I think its going towards that new city hall that warren is building

the cop who pulled me over said that the law says you have to make a complete stop and wait for at least 10 seconds even if there is no traffic coming at you.

How is this progressing?

Did you FOIA the dash cam footage? Maybe it shows who was really writing the ticket?

Well she has a court day the first week of January.

Will they give up dash cam footage under Freedom of Information Act?

Not sure how to go about that.

Guess we got more homework ahead of us.
