I'm trying to find some articles on what happened. I remember the city getting a lot of bad press over the issue and that it never went thru with the plan.

actually back in the 80's Warren discussed it but never did it.Several cities such as grosse point park and I believe Grosse Pte City actually closed off several of their border roads to Detroit.
