Why hasn't there been more news coverage of this?? The only information I found on this was a column in the August 2, T&G and suggested there may be a link between this and an attempted rape July 28 in Charlton.... Helloooo!! there is a sick individual out there and people should be on guard... how can we be on guard if we are unaware of these events!!!!

I'm a female runner who lives in a nearby town to Brimfield and Charlton, why am I JUST finding out about these two attempted attacks now?!?! These incidents need to be told to the public the DAY it happends to warn everyone. For us to help find the abductor (and know who to stay away from) we need to know this type of information asap; for everyone's safty.

I agree with the above postings. Why is it, when there is an attempted abduction in Charlton, there so little coverage? Who exactly is responsible for deciding what gets media attention? I don't feel particularly safe in this town anymore and that's a shame. I am fearful for my children and as a resident, I would appreciate more information, in a timely mannor. I don't think that's asking too much, do you? Please, help us feel safe here. I'm really angry that I'm just now reading about the attempted abduction on Dresser Hill Road now! If it weren't for the attempted abduction in Brimfield, would the incident in Charlton be mentioned at all? Help us protect our children by providing us with essential information as soon as it happens, we have the right to decide what precautions we should take for our family.

I think they left it quiet so this sicko wouldn't know he was wanted. So he'd be easier to catch and not in hiding somewhere. I hope there is finally peace for the Piirainen and Bish families also.

Suspect arrested in attempted abduction in Brimfield
TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF
DUDLEY— A 54-year-old man wanted in connection with an attempted abduction July 21 of a young woman in Brimfield has been arrested. Robert R. Burno Jr. appeared in Dudley District Court this morning and is scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield and Palmer courts later this week, according to court officials today.
Dudley Police made the arrest late last night after they received a call about 11:15 about the possible location of Mr. Burno who was sought in connection with the Brimfield incident.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Mr. Burno. He was being sought by Massachusetts State Police on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and accosting/annoying a person of the opposite sex.
Dudley Police responded to 107 West Dudley Road just before midnight. Mr. Burno was found at that address and was taken to the Dudley Police Department for booking.
Mr. Burno lived in a West Springfield apartment until December. Police say he also has connections to Ware.
The victim in the Brimfield incident was not hurt and was able to get away and give police a good description of the vehicle and suspect.
State police detectives assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney’s office are investigating the case along with state police assigned to the Sturbridge barracks.
