Why is it that the speed trap in Murphy, NC by the State Patrol is allowed to continue? I know it is a cash cow for the city and county, but wow, the trooper came out of nowhere and would not give me the smallest break:( My first ticket ever and I have been driving for a looonnngggg time....

You answered your own question. The best thing to do is to stop spending money in the area.

Funny, I drive that road almost everyday. Have been for the past 20 years. Never got a ticket but I have witnessed several tickets being written. Maybe if you weren't going 20mph over the speed limit with a cell phone stuck to your head, you would have seen the trooper and slowed down and payed attention. Also the money is 20 80 split with 20 going to the county and 80 to the state. Now if Murphy PD pulled you over that money goes to the town.

Well, first let me say that I did not have my cell phone in my head or hand and from what I understand, this stretch of road is listed in one of the top 10 speed traps in N.C. I never saw the trooper and to this day have no idea where he was sitting but I do know that he was close to the sign where the speed limit drops. So, since this is my first ticket EVER, I would say that I am a very careful driver who was just another casualty of this area of town..So, don't assume that every person is on their cell phone and a crappy driver...Are you sure you are not the trooper that pulled me over? You seem to have the same type of thinking...

P.S. I was not going 20 miles over the limit either...

First of all the speed limit sign that states 55 or what ever means that is the limit, no more than that! I do know that a Trooper would not give you or anyone else a break for 12mph or more over the limit and they shouldn't. I would like to see the "list of the top 10 speed traps in N.C. also.
By the way, none of the money from tickets go to the City or the County unless it is a City that has their own tickets and not using the N.C. Uniform Citation all of the fines and cost go to the school and court systems in N.C.
P.S Let me know if you want a Lawyer I happen to know one.

Wahhhh I got a ticket from an evil state patrol and its my first WAHHHHHHHHHHHH. What road , location and speed. Try pulling out of private driveways 64w near cooks carpet cars are doing 60-65 in a 45 and the visibility is limited I wish they would enforce that area to slow people down before someone is killed.

Oh my, I have just ran into the "perfect driver" for the first time in my life!! I have never met anyone that has never gone over the speed limit, anywhere, anytime...Congratulations!! Also, you do not know any of the details in regards to my speed, etc...I thought attorney's were supposed to know the answer to questions before they ask them so they don't ASSUME:) Why would I hire you when you have already found me "guilty"

Yesterday as I was slowly driving through my neighborhood, it came to me...Of course you have not gotten a ticket on that road in 20 years because you know that troppers are everywhere along that stretch!! Why would you speed through there:) DUHHHHH!!!!

Blah, Blah, Blah...I used to live on a State Road and had to pull out onto that major road when I left my home. I know it is frustrating!! Also, I have never gotten a ticket so I consider myself a good driver. However, if I am going to get pulled over, it would be nice to be on an even playing ground. I am going to court and paying my ticket and apologizing for my speeding. I have taken full responsibility and will pay and move on "slowly"

I agree. Most travel way too fast. But, rarely do I see anyone ticketed.

Guess they drove under the speed limit and the troppers were better where you come from.
