A state senator's sharp-tongued remark about Asheville has been turned into a tongue-in-cheek motto of sorts in a campaign against the proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in North Carolina.

I hope they do ban same sex marriage. Sounds like they are getting wisdom and starting to believe that God means what he says about such practices.
After all He created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. And if God doesn't deal with this nation about condoning homosexualality, then perhaps He owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.(I don't think so..)
Does our country want to be blessed or not? If so, then we as a nation better start lining up with the Word of God.
What part of "Thou shalt not" do we not understand?

And my gay pastor disagrees with you.

What part of OLD do YOU not understand? Every argument I've read or heard regarding homosexuality is based on the OLD testament. Jesus brought a new covenant, NEW as in a better vision than the OLD, an improved version yet blank headed evangelicals cling like leeches to the OLD. Oh, and maybe you should get yourself spell check...duh And while your at it, get the hell out of my bedroom, pervert!

Why every time marriage comes up does someone have to bring God into it. Marriage is a CIVIL contract. It has nothing to do with God. Grow up already.

LOL. Did you just make that up? Funny.

You are half-right: god didn’t create Adam and Steve. On the other hand, you’re half-wrong: god didn’t create Adam and Eve either. The “"mitochondrial Eve" lived about 200,000 years ago. And the “Y-Chromosomal Adam” lived about 142,000 years ago. The two didn’t even know each other. There was no Garden of Eden, no Tree of Knowledge, and no serpent-Satan. Both the genetic mother-of-humanity and the genetic father-of-humanity were from Africa, and existed thousands of years apart from one another.

The bottom line is: your god doesn't exist.

Man, do I ever feel sorry for all of you.
You must have had no upbringing at all in the Word of God......... So you don't believe homosexuality is forbidden in the new testament? See
l Corinthians 6:9 and 10.
Also,in another scripture,Jesus said he didn't come to do away with the law,(old testament),but to fulfill the law and the commandments.(Matt5:17-20)
God gives us power to overcome any sin or sinful habit in our lives. There is no excuse for staying the way you are. On the day you stand before Him, there will be no excuse. Seek Him while He may be found. He is full of love and forgiveness and He will help you with your problem of sin and sinful practices.

The Word of God is truth. God said it, I believe it, and that settles it. If you want to argue about sin, then argue with God. He is the author of truth, and He hasn't and will not change His mind about sin.
You say there is no God. Well there is a God! I choose to believe. The evidence is all around us. Even time and date is measured by His son Jesus. When we say it is the year 2011, we are saying that Jesus was on earth 2,011 years ago. Only a fool would say there is no God.
If He would happen to NOT be real, then I have nothing to lose, but if you are wrong about His existence then you have everthing to lose, and eternity to regret your decisions concerning Him.
I pray that God will give you eye salve to open your eyes to the truth.(Rev 3:18)God loves you, and so do I.

I am glad you have bibles. Isn't it great that we are allowed to read the Word in the USA. I have been some places where the bible isn't allowed.
I am not from AZ, but am here on a mission. This is just one of the many places I have gone to help the down-trodden, the poor and sick. I encourage them in the Lord.
God loves you and so do I. May peace be found in you life and home.

Read your bible. You are perfectly free to be deluded but your mission? Shove it! No adult needs a Giant Teddy bear to love and be loved by. This, unfortunately, is what people like you do, pray on the down-trodden, the poor and sick, recruiting more suckers. It's all about politics and numbers, EGO, NOT true religiousness.

Are you a Hillbilly? God loves Hillbillies too.
Yes, I am on a mission in Az. The USA needs missionaries as much as third world countries.
The whole world needs Jesus. You need Him and so do I.
I do not depend on the love that you know about. My source of love resides inside my heart. He (the Lord God), would love me if I decided to never say another word on His behalf, but because He has saved me and delivered me, I will tell the world of His great love.

Anybody who gives you a belief system is not your friend. The USA, the world, needs to drag itself into the modern age and drop all these inane superstitions. No doubt Jesus was a great seer in his time but his time was over 2000 years ago and he sure as hell was not the only begotten son of god. Your god a phantasmagorical hallucination only a childish mind could possibly believe in. He resembles more closely Santa Claus or the aster Bunny than anything real. I actually feel pity for delusional people who go through life thinking some imaginary god is going to deliver you into some imaginary heaven. People need to grow up and take responsibility. folks like you are not only pathetic your beliefs are dangerous.

Hey, I did not write those above remarks! For one thing, I am not in Ashville, NC. I am in Az. I AM a professional, a medical missionary, with an Masters degree in counseling.
Hey, I am going to back out. I have shared with all you good people about God and His love for you. I pray and hope He convicts your heart of His deep compassion and great love for you, as He did for me. I wouldn't trade my relationship with my Heavenly Father for anything the world has to offer. I know He is real.
So I will close with this and tell you that I love you.

Seriously? That wasn't you? Good Lord, what ever possess some one to pretend he is thee. Is it not enough one person on this thread is hallucinating some one wants to make it appear there are more?! I mean really, mass hallucinations, that's what religion is. We certainly don't want that, now, do we?

Your love is a platitude you've been taught to utter. It's not love at all but politics. Your religion, like all religions, is political, a numbers game, nothing more.

"Religion was central to early political control of society. By assuming the authority of higher beings, priests and princes were able to suppress dissent without constant recourse to military terrorism. The more successful leaders realized that internal legal harmonization bought significant advantages, and most judicial systems are religiously inspired. Both English Common law and Roman Codex systems exeunt across Europe used to presume that 'all law is known to God' and the law court is merely a forum in which we lesser beings might 'discover the mind of God. Since 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has guided most western judiciaries. The British monarch is still enthroned "By the grace of God, Defender of the Faith" and British coins bear the legend "Deo Gratia, Fid Def" around the royal image as a constant reminder to British subjects of this divine providence!"

This remains so today, perhaps more sophisticated but nonetheless it's all about control. Every politician invokes the name of god but in reality he is invoking his desire to dominate, to control and your priests are in league with these people.

All
The above is not God's fault that "religion" exists today. He does not desire religion, but longs for a relationship with us. He wants to be our "Abba Father", Abba, so intimate meaning "DaDa". He hates religion too, like you and I hate it. It is cold and distant and unfeeling. It was like that in the Old Testament and the laws were given in order to show us that we need God. For we are not capable of living the way we should, unless He is invited into our lives and He lives out the Christian life in us and we rest and enjoy. I am not capable in myself of loving others the way I should, but He provides the power needed to even love and pray for my enemies. I am not, in my own strength, able to go the second mile with someone who needs help, but He is, and He gives me strength to do that. And I don't get tired when helping others when He is my source. It isn't religion. Far from it! It is a relationship with God. He longs to have that closeness with you and with all. He knows the end from the beginning, we do not know what will happen the next minute, but I am confident that whatever comes my way, He and I can handle it together. He is my dearest friend, not a religious icon somewhere, where we know not where. He longs to live in us and through us. I am wondering why anyone would ever go back to living out their lives without the reassurance that if the world should fall apart around us, we are secure in Him? This way of living is not "religion".

Still clinging to that father figure who is nonexistent?

"GOD is not a person. That is one of the greatest misunderstandings, and it has prevailed so long that it has become almost a fact. Even if a lie is repeated continuously for centuries it is bound to appear as if it is a truth.

God is a presence, not a person. Hence all worshipping is sheer stupidity. Prayerfulness is needed, not prayer. There is nobody to pray to; there is no possibility of any dialogue between you and God. Dialogue is possible only between two persons, and God is not a person but a presence – like beauty, like joy.

God simply means godliness. It is because of this fact that Buddha denied the existence of God. He wanted to emphasize that God is a quality, an experience – like love. You cannot talk to love, you can live it. You need not create temples of love, you need not make statues of love, and bowing down to those statues will be just nonsense. And that’s what has been happening in the churches, in the temples, in the mosques.

Man has lived under this impression of God as a person, and then two calamities have happened through it. One is the so-called religious man, who thinks God is somewhere above m the sky and you have to praise him. to persuade him to confer favors on you, to help you to fulfill your desires, to make your ambitions succeed, to give you the wealth of this world AND of the other world. And this is sheer wastage of time and energy." ~ Osho
