I am sure that the Dracut PD has been working relentlessly on this case. After all, when $80,000.00 worth of marijuana suddenly just disappears from their own evidence room, it doesn't look very good.
Dracut PD, can you please provide the Taxpayers of Dracut with an update on this very important case? Thank you, The West Newton Kid |

Hey Dracut PD,
Did you guys here of the breaking news out of Boston? 7 cops have been suspended without pay for various lengths of time, for admitting to steroid use: a cop named St. Guillen; detective Kenneth Gaines 44; detective Joseph Marrero 34; and officers Richard Medina 36; Martin Harrison 37; David Juba 35 and Timothy Hancock 41. Their suspensions range from 5 days to 80 days UNPAID and they will have to submit to random drug testing for the remainders of their careers. Plus, officer Steven Gil 39, was suspended for 5 days for knowing about the illegal steroid use and looking the other way. The investigation was performed by three different angencies: Boston PD's Anti-Ccorruption Division; the FBI and the US Attorney's Office. You guys may want to get your butts in gear; and solve the case of the missing $80 grand worth of pot from your own evidence room. Not only are you embarressing yourselves; but there are other agencies around that may start poking around into your unfinished business! Get going and make me proud, boys! |

I think it is time that law enforcement get tested regularly for drug use.I know for a fact that several police officers indulge in drug use regularly.Do you want someone carrying a gun at all times even occasionally getting high?

Of course common sense tells us that all cops should be subjected to random and frequent drug testing. It is not unheard of for cops to indulge in marijuana, cocaine, illegal steroids and illegal prescription drug use. Additionally, it is not unheard of for a cop to stay out until the wee hours of the morning drinking and partying, and then report to work at 7:00 or 8:00am. Obviously, all cops should go through a mandatory breathalyzor, before beginning their shifts. And, while we are on the topic of performing mandatory testing on our lawmen; we should also talk about performing quarterly credit checks on all LEO's. A cop who is up to his eyeballs in dept has a much higher likelyhood of taking advantage of the badge for illegal personal gains. These gains may come in the way of being paid off to ignore criminal activety (such as drug dealing, bookmaking and prostitution); shaking down drug dealers for cash and or drugs; stealing cash and or drugs from evidence rooms; and illegal drug dealing. History has proven that many of our nations lawmen have been involved in all of these things. Certainly, when the general public hands someone a gun and a badge, as well as allowing someone to speed around in a cruiser; the public has every right to demand that these lawmen are held to the highest standard of behavoir. Needless to say, part of the solution is also instituting Civilian Review Boards to investigate police behavoir. The public should be in charge of the investigations of all suspected criminal activety committed by a cop; as well as any high speed pursuits and any shootings by our lawmen. The current system of having the police investigate themselves is a gross conflict of interest as well as a sham. The fact that the case of the missing $80,000.00 worth of marijuana from the evidence room of the Dracut PD has never resulted in the filing of any charges shows all of us that the current system is grossly ineffective. I blame the Police Chief of Dracut; as well as the DA; for allowing this outrage to go unsolved. Again, the current system is nothing more than a sham. |
