Thier was two stores in Yukon #2. The first one was own and operate by Church family later by the Wingo family and it was torn down for the new brigde. The other one was own and operate by the Dameran family which was torn down and then Kidwell family had a store across from the other store. GOD BLESS YUKON #2!! I remember when it was all apple orchards, as far as the eye could see. My mother used to make homemade apple butter, apple pies, etc. Those were the days!

I lived in Yukon #2 in the 60s. Spent my nights sitting on the bridge with Freddie Hass, Mike Marshal, Jeff Collins, and more. Dated Donice Smith, and a few other girls. Went to war school. My sister was Lucille Logan that lived up on the hill. I live in Martinsville Va. now. My email is ([email protected]) if anyone wants to drop a line. Thanks

My family lived in Buckanan (a mile or so from Yukon #2). We moved in 1959 because my dad was getting very little miner's work. I remember Yukon #2 would get flooded and we would keep some of the flood victims in our house. I had a friend in Yukon that was a Cherokee. Don't remember his name. He had a beautiful spotted pony and I also had a pony. I went back for a visit 2 yrs ago. All my boyhood thought were destroyed by the desolation I saw. I'm thankful my dad saw no future for us kids there and moved us to Florida. I remember collecting scrap metal and selling it at a place in Yukon for a penny a pound. We would buy a car top in War, with the money from the scrap metal, and use it as a boat. Loved the annual carnivals at the " bottom" each summer. Good to remember.
