well not that one, not saying that he wasnt good, but the teams of the 60s, 70s, and 80s had some pretty good players, and when they played a ton harder than they do now, Danny Abercrombie, Mark Muncy, Benny Wilson, Popeye Morgan, The Bailey Boys from Coalwood in the 80s,,, TONS of them,,,, prob the best would have to be Bob Gresham (sp?) but thats just me, made it to the WVU Hall of Fame, so he would be the one
I agree GRESHAM

Danny Abercrombie hands down. This dude was PHENOMINAL. I used to watch this dude and I was in awe. He truly was a bad man.

actually that was 1981 year, not the 82 season, that was the year that those guys did so well, i think they were Baylor brothers or cousins,,,, that was the year before i got there though,,,,that was a very good year for Coach Poletti and all the guys there, one of them was Slu (Kevin Baylor) and i just cant seem to remember the other ones name just yet but im sure that it will come to me,,,, but dont count out that 97 football team that actually got robbed out of a state title by the refs,,,, and obvious call that they just got shafted by the refs,,,,, they were damn good too,,,, and alot of those boys were from coalwood as well
Jeff Baylor MLB, he was the other one. Also dont forget Randy Jamison and his older brother Daryrl they were PHENOMINAL too. But in my opinion, Danny [Abercrombie] was the baddest.

Thats not very nice what was said about Coach Mario Poletti, Coach Poletti made men out of the many many WV males. He instilled them with a mind and the heart to win and ensured our bodies could match that commtiment. There is sacrafice in every sport. But every last young man that ever played under him, was better off for having doene so. Many of us used that same non-stop determination to advance in life. So, rest easy Coach, We love you.

Big Creek had many talented players through the years, but the teams from 79-81 went 27 and 5. Abercrombie, muncy, jamison, the baylor brothers, and even Coach Poletti's sons were pretty good players. But one thing is for sure, Poletti was the best coach Big Creek ever had. He was a good man and is sorely missed.

Got cancer from knee bruises? That's got to rate as one the dumbest statements I've heard in a while.
